The WEALTHBACK campaign (January 20-28 2026) is here.

As January 26 approaches, First Nations Futures is inviting us all to redistribute wealth as an ongoing practice of solidarity with First Nations people.

As an organisation that benefits from operating on stolen land, we’ve committed to redistributing wealth through First Nations Futures - supporting First Nations community organisations investing in young people, climate justice, cultural revitalisation, and youth justice.

In the lead-up to Jan 26, the WEALTHBACK campaign is asking us all to stand in material solidarity with First Nations people by taking 2 small but powerful actions:

1. To redistribute $5 (or more!) per week via the First Nations Futures funding platform.
2. Ask 5 friends, or people in your network, to do the same.

In particular, we’re calling on our peers in the , and industries, along with our fellow , (and indeed any business that is able) to join this year’s WEALTHBACK campaign and to make a formal, ongoing commitment to redistributing wealth part of your business model.

Well, better (very 😬) late than never…

We’re excited to finally share our latest Annual Impact Report for the 2024 calendar year, which was a true labour of love for us this time around. And while there is much to be explored, discussed and celebrated throughout its pages, we’ll let the following quote – generously contributed as the opening intention for the report by the brilliant Larisha V Jerome – do the talking instead:

“Economic empowerment is not just about numbers on a page – it’s about restoring what was taken, rebuilding what was broken, and returning to ways of being that centre care, kinship, and collective wellbeing. True economic redress is collective – it liberates, it heals – and it ensures no one is left behind on their path to prosperity. At the heart of it all is the economy of reciprocity, where giving and receiving are sacred acts of resistance, renewal, and responsibility.”

As always, we are incredibly grateful to every single person that played a role in supporting this impact alongside us in 2024 and you can read the full report here: https://www.purefinance.com.au/finance-for-good/

It’s that time again…

As is tradition, we recently sat down with the brilliant Kellie Landrey, founder and principal buyer’s agent at Scoutable, for her take on this year’s spring property market and what buyers can expect as they prepare for what is often regarded as the busiest time in the property market calendar.

In this year’s update, Kellie serves up some of her trademark property market related real talk, along with a bunch of practical tips, expert guidance and insider knowledge to help any potential buyers in the Pure Finance community set themselves up for property buying success over the next few months - and beyond.

A must read for anyone preparing to brave the spring buying season this year.

How To Buy A Home: with Nightingale Housing X Pure Finance

Buying a home can feel overwhelming, especially if you’ve never done it before. It’s a major milestone, a significant cost, and for many, it may only happen once in a lifetime, if at all. How do we find a way to home ownership in an inequitable housing system?

Secure housing is increasingly in the hands of the privileged, but at Nightingale, we believe everyone deserves access to secure housing and the knowledge to help make it more possible. One of the biggest barriers? Simply understanding how the system works, financial requirements, government schemes, lead times, confusing jargon, and where to even start.

Please join us for ‘How to Buy a Home', a practical information session designed to build confidence and provide clear, useful tools for anyone thinking about home ownership, now or in the future.

We’ll be joined by expert Brendan Dixon from Pure Finance who’ll help us answer:
▪️ How do mortgages work?
▪️ How much deposit do I really need?
▪️ What Government schemes and support can I access?
▪️ Can I buy a home with a friend or family member?
▪️ How much can I borrow?
▪️ Who should I talk to about finding the right mortgage for me?
▪️ Should I buy off-the-plan or an established home?
▪️ What is ethical banking?
▪️ Do you have some quick tips to start saving?
▪️ And how to take the first steps?

We’ll cover all kinds of housing, not just Nightingale, and aim to give you confidence to navigate the process, whether you're buying in 1 year or 15.

📅 Wednesday 29 October at 6:15pm
📍 Tempo Rubato - 34 Breese St, Brunswick

This EOFY, the team at First Nations Futures have launched their EOFY: Justice, Not Just Returns Campaign (June 9 - 30, 2025) inviting individuals, businesses and philanthropists to reframe this financial year from being a time for reducing your tax burden to a time for increasing your contribution to First Nations justice.

A community founded and led funding platform, First Nations Futures are pushing to raise $400,000 by June 30. Having now reached 84% of their funding target - the team are just $67,242 away from being able to redirect $40k each to 10 First Nations community partners, investing in cultural strengthening, climate justice, youth justice, healing and wellbeing, and language revival.

With 100% of all campaign funds redistributed directly to community partners, making a financial contribution is an opportunity to support self-determination and stand in meaningful solidarity with First Nations people and communities this EOFY.

You can make a financial contribution* via: www.firstnationsfutures.com/eofy

*Note: For tax-deductible contributions over $1,000, get in touch with the team via: [email protected]

And if financial support feels a little bit out of reach right now, First Nations Futures have also created a comprehensive list of additional ways to support and amplify the campaign, which can also be accessed via the campaign page here: https://www.firstnationsfutures.com/eofy

This we wish to echo and amplify the voices of those calling for Australia to move towards some additional ‘R’ words in its approach to reconciliation: Redistribution, Reparations and Responsibility.

COMMON GROUND | Common Ground
Common Ground is a First Nations not-for-profit that exists to centre First Nations people, Country and truth-telling. This year, they’re calling for a move beyond ‘reconciliation’ towards Reparations, Regeneration, Relationality, Reciprocity and Responsibility – words that will meaningfully support a future that centres First Nations people, knowledge and cultures.

FIRST NATIONS FUTURES | First Nations Futures
Through their community-controlled and led funding model, First Nations Futures are forging a new pathway to economic justice for First Nations people and communities. By distributing long-term, unrestricted funding to a panel of First Nations community-driven partners, the platform creates an opportunity for us all to collectively reckon with the past and meaningfully resource the future.

This week, we are again calling on everyone in the mortgage and finance industry (and indeed any business that is able) to make a commitment to paying the rent and, if you’re in a position to do so, consider making it a formal, ongoing part of your business model.

26/05/2025

On 26 May each year, National Sorry Day commemorates the anniversary of the tabling of the ‘Bringing them home report’ in the Australian Parliament and honours the survivors from the Stolen Generations – the tens of thousands of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children who were forcibly removed from their families, communities, culture and Country from the mid-1800s until the 1980s.

A landmark truth-telling process, the 1997 report uncovered the truth of Australia’s Stolen Generations history and, for the first time, shared this history with the nation. However, nearly 30 years later, only 6% of the recommendations from the original report—meant to support Stolen Generations survivors and their families—have been clearly implemented.

“A generation on, we have already lost many Stolen Generations survivors. Those who are left are ageing. The urgency of acting now, to support elderly survivors in their last years and decades, cannot be overstated.” - Healing Foundation

The theme for this year’s Sorry Day, We Cannot Wait Another Generation, emphasises the urgent need to act on these outstanding recommendations and ensure that Stolen Generations survivors are supported to age with dignity and respect.

08/03/2025

With the release of new employer gender pay gap data coinciding with IWD this year, we thought we’d take the opportunity to reintroduce our money-focused, gender equity platform: Ladies Talk Money. And in particular, highlight the community’s campaign – a community-focused advocacy campaign calling for the urgent adoption of intersectional gender pay gap data and reporting in Australia.

Because while we now have valuable insights into Australia’s gender pay gap across various industries and organisations, what these reports are failing to fully capture are the nuances and deeper inequities experienced by women and gender diverse people with intersecting identities. This means that the compounded disadvantages experienced by these groups when it comes to pay equity remain invisible at best, and deliberately obscured at worst.

As the saying goes: you can’t manage what you don’t measure. And if we aren’t including the lived realities of all women and gender diverse people in our gender pay gap data, then we are excluding them from being part of the solution. In this case, out of sight not only means out of mind – it also means out of pocket.

We choose to support the Ladies Talk Money platform because we believe tackling gender inequality to be one of the most urgent issues facing our communities, and will be central to achieving the wide-spread social, economic, political and environmental equality the world so desperately needs. We also implicitly understand that this work cannot be confined to the 24hrs of International Women’s Day alone, and so, we are proud to support and champion the work of this community – 365 days a year.

You can learn more about the campaign by visiting the campaign page on the LTM website here: https://www.ladiestalkmoney.com.au/out-of-sight-out-of-pocket-campaign . And while you’re there, why not add your voice to the call by co-signing the campaign open letter? A small but powerful action for change this IWD.

And if you’re REALLY keen, you can sign up the the Ladies Talk Money mailing list to be the first to know when this year’s campaign kicks off.

PURE COMMUNITY / ROUND 2, 2024

For our second round of impact giving under the new distribution schedule, here’s where (with your help) redistributed funds for the second half of 2024:

PAY THE RENT (1%) / Wilya Janta
In Jurnkkurakurr/Tennant Creek, where climate data predicts dramatic increases in 40°+ days, Wilya Janta is an Aboriginal-led corporation that is revolutionising remote housing by combining traditional knowledge with modern sustainability. Their innovative approach isn’t just creating homes that are both culturally appropriate and climate resilient - it's restoring agency to communities in determining their own housing futures. We redistributed $7,271 towards Wilya Janta's vital efforts in revolutionising housing solutions with, and for, First Nations communities.

PLANET (1%) / Rising Tide
Based in Muloobinba/Newcastle, home to the world's largest coal port, Rising Tide is a community-powered climate movement that recently mobilised 7,000 people for the group’s most impactful climate action yet. Through creative activism and peaceful resistance, they're proving that ordinary people can create extraordinary change in the fight for climate justice. We redistributed $7,271 towards Rising Tide’s community-powered climate activism and their ongoing work in advocating for urgent climate action.

PEOPLE (3%) / YOURS
There was also an additional $21,812 (3%) added to the YOURS lending pool.

As always, we want to thank all of the people working hard to make our world a more just and equitable one – it’s an honour to be able to support your important work. 💚

26/01/2025

Today, and every day, we acknowledge and pay our deep respects to the Traditional, and only true, Custodians of the land on which we’re grateful to live and work — the Gadigal people of the Eora nation, the Whadjuk people of the Noongar nation and the Wiradjuri people.

By extension of this acknowledgement, we also recognise that our industry plays a role in the continued dispossession of this unceded land and that, as a collective, we still have a long way to go in making meaningful, equitable reparations.

Today, we reaffirm our ongoing commitment to by redistributing a percentage of revenue to First Nations community-led and controlled organisations and we encourage anyone who is able to do the same.

Sovereignty was never ceded. This always was, and always will be Aboriginal land.

In an industry that so often asks ‘What can we gain?’ we’re interested in asking a different question:

‘What can we create; together?’

How can we realise a financial system that measures its success not in what it can accumulate, but in what it can cultivate? In thriving communities, protected Country, and the possibility of a safe and plentiful future for the generations that will follow.
___

At Pure Finance, we understand deeply that our success isn’t something we’ve achieved in isolation. It’s made possible only through the trust, support and contributions of every single person in this community – and many more beyond it. We wanted to take this moment to acknowledge this interconnectedness and to express our sincere gratitude for each person that has played a role in our story this year.

And so once again, we are excited to share a glimpse of what success looked like for us in 2024; a celebration through stories from our community.

As you read, we hope you’ll see yourself reflected here. Because in so many ways, these stories are all of ours – each connected through a shared belief that the financial decisions we make, be they big or small, have the power to shape the world we want to see.
