Step 1: The gear
You need: Sandpaper (400, 800, 1500, 3000 grit), masking tape, a spray bottle with soapy water, a drill with a sanding pad (optional but faster), WipeClear, IPA, UV sealant or 2K clear coat, microfiber towels. Total startup: under $150.
Step 2: The process
Tape around the light. Wet sand 400 grit until the yellow layer is gone. Move up through the grits. Clean it. Wipe down with IPA, then apply WipeClear. Let it bond. That’s it.
Step 3: Price it
$150–$250 per car. Takes 30–45 mins. Materials cost maybe $5. You clear over $200/hr.
Step 4: Get customers
Walk your neighbourhood. Knock on doors with cars that have cloudy lights. Offer to do one side for free so they can see the difference. Post before/afters on Marketplace. One good video does the selling for you.
Step 5: Scale
Add it to a mobile detailing package. Pitch it at car washes. Partner with mechanics. Most shops hate doing headlights — be the guy they send people to.
