Last week, Neil attended the Commercial & Asset Finance Brokers Association (CAFBA) Leaders Forum in Sydney, joining industry peers to discuss the future of commercial and asset finance.

The day included the CAFBA Board Meeting, followed by a Leaders Forum Luncheon at Parliament House, bringing together leaders from across the sector.

A number of important themes were discussed, including:

• fraud awareness and the evolving role of AI in both enabling and mitigating risk

• cyber security considerations for businesses and lenders

• ongoing industry education and professional standards

• progress of the Professional Standards Scheme

It’s always valuable to step back, connect with peers, and contribute to discussions that influence the future of our industry. These conversations play such an important role in shaping a stronger, more transparent industry.

Jacob had a great night attending the Goldfields Children Charity Inc Ball over the weekend, joining Haydn and the team at HP Mechanical .

It was fantastic to see so many local businesses and community members come together to support families across the Goldfields with sick children. There’s something special about seeing regional communities show up for one another like this.

A big thank you to the organisers for a wonderful event, and to HP Mechanical for the invitation.

Footy season is officially underway, and it’s fair to say there are a few mixed loyalties around the Ledge office.

From Dockers and Eagles through to Bulldogs, Cats and a few others in between, the scarves came out for a quick team photo as the 2026 AFL season kicked off.

And while AFL might be dominating the conversation right now, a few supporters of other codes snuck in 🏉

A few early observations from the first round:

• Some teams already look settled and composed
• Consistency will matter more than flashy moments
• Off-season preparation clearly counts

Still early days… but we’re watching closely. Who are you backing this season?

Yesterday, Elaine, Karen, Neil, Kerry & Janine from the Ledge Finance team joined the CAFBA International Women’s Day Breakfast, alongside colleagues and peers from across the finance and broking industry.

This year’s theme, , sparked some thoughtful conversations around fairness, equity and the role we can all play in creating more inclusive industries and communities.

We heard from Manuela Whitford from Friends With Dignity who shared the organisation’s work supporting adults and children impacted by domestic and family violence, helping victim survivors rebuild their lives and create new pathways forward. Her message about the quiet strength of survival and the importance of allies was incredibly powerful.

We also heard from Stacey Quilton, Chief of Staff at WORK180, who spoke about what women are looking for in workplaces today and the steps organisations can take to support diverse, equitable and inclusive environments.

A big thank you to CAFBA, the Women of CAFBA event organisers and flexicommercial Australia for bringing the industry together for such an important conversation.

We had a fantastic evening at the 2026 Civil Sundowner hosted by the Civil Contractors Federation WA, with more than 200 members of WA’s civil construction industry coming together for a lively and well-supported event.

Brad and Jacob attended on behalf of the Ledge Finance team and enjoyed reconnecting with clients, catching up with referral partners and meeting others across the industry. It was great to see such a strong turnout and plenty of energy in the room.

Events like this are a great reminder of the strength of WA’s civil community and the value of bringing people together across the sector.

Ledge was proud to support the evening as a supporting sponsor, and we thank CCF WA for hosting such a successful event.
