We spend money protecting our homes, cars, income and businesses because reducing financial risk is part of sensible planning. But when it comes to our health, many of us still wait until something goes wrong before taking a closer look.

At the UFinancial Annual Conference, Leigh Deledio, Director of Growth & Development at UFinancial, shared his experience completing Everlab’s comprehensive preventative health assessment, which looks at more than 100 health markers.

What stood out wasn’t simply the amount of data. It was the value of having a clearer baseline, understanding where potential risk factors may sit and having a doctor help translate the results into something meaningful.

It raised an interesting question: if we’re prepared to invest in protecting our financial future, should we be applying some of that same proactive thinking to our health?

Our latest article explores the connection between preventative health, financial protection and why better information can help us make more informed decisions about the future.

A big thank you to Dr Jared Mathai and Kyle Reynolds from Everlab for sharing their insights at our conference, and to Leigh for openly sharing his personal experience.

A mortgage is not a transaction, it is a 25 to 30 year relationship. Reading a complex tax return in minutes, structuring around multiple trusts, or navigating construction finance takes years of experience to get right.

Having a team to lean on means harder scenarios get solved faster, and continuity is built in for the life of your loan.

Ask your broker what support they have for you over the life of your loan?

A $3,000 cashback looks tempting — but what happens if your new lender lifts your rate outside the RBA cycle?

Cashback is one-off. Your interest rate is ongoing.

In our latest article, we unpack why chasing refinance cashback can become a false economy, what frequent refinancing can do to your credit profile, and why sometimes the better move is asking your current lender to sharpen your rate instead.

For UFinancial mortgage clients, regular home loan reviews and repricing are already part of what we do — no cashback required.

Read the article to see why the best refinance deal isn't always the one with the biggest upfront offer.

Earlier this month, our team came together for our annual EOFY celebration, to reflect on the last 12 months, connect and celebrate what we've achieved together.

It was a chance to bring people from across all our business units and offices around Australia together in one room, celebrating the work that happens in every part of the business, no matter where it happens.

This year's awards recognised standout contributions across a range of areas, from client outcomes to teamwork and growth. A big congratulations to all of this year's award winners, and to every person across the business who made this year the year that it was❤️

Housing is shaping up as a major issue in Victoria’s 2026 state election, and the differences between the parties go well beyond how many homes should be built.

Labor, the Liberal–National Coalition and the Greens have different positions on first-home buyer stamp duty, rent regulation, property taxes, planning and public housing.

We’ve broken down the major housing policies, including what they could mean for the decisions Victorians are making now. Read the full article: https://bit.ly/46lZHHo

How secure is your financial information once it leaves your hands?

In Episode 2 of The Real Question Podcast, Leigh Deledio and Paul Nelson discuss what protecting client data looks like in practice, and why security needs to be part of the conversation whenever personal and financial information is being shared.

It’s not just about systems. It’s about knowing who has access to your information, how it’s handled and what safeguards are in place.

What's changing across the lending market right now?

At our recent UFinancial Conference, we sat down with AFG (Australian Finance Group), Fintelligence, Bankwest, Commonwealth Bank and ANZ Australia to talk about what's shifting for brokers and borrowers. A few things stood out for us:

Some lenders are now turning around approvals in hours, not days.

Fraud checks have tightened, so more applications are being flagged for review even when nothing is wrong.

Lender appetite varies more than borrowers realise. One panellist shared an example of a first home buyer maxed out on servicing for their home loan, then approved for a car loan a week later, because different lenders assess the same person differently.

There is rarely one lender or loan structure that suits everyone. Understanding the differences is what makes the difference, and that’s where the our team can help.

This month's morning tea at the St Kilda office gave us the chance to welcome two of our new team members, Federico Crestale, up from the Torquay office, and David Lawson. We also celebrated our July and August birthdays. 🎉

Plenty to celebrate, and a great way for the St Kilda team to come together.
