Is your insurance cover owned by you, or by your super fund's trustee?

It's a question most people never think to ask, and the answer changes more than you'd expect: how your premiums are taxed, how a payout is taxed on the way out, and what has to happen before a claim is released.

Cover held inside super goes through the trustee first, who needs to be satisfied you meet a condition of release before funds are paid, an extra step that cover held outside super doesn't have.

Evie is studying a Bachelor of Business, majoring in Accounting and Financial Planning. What started as an interest in commerce back in high school shifted toward financial planning, where she found a stronger connection to the career she wants to build.

After graduating, her next steps include:

- Completing her professional year

Outside her studies, she balances part-time work with guitar, travel, time by the water, and her dog.
