It feels like I blink and suddenly it’s the 1st of July again. Today, Serenity turns 4!

Business babies and real babies feel so similar. Its only on a birthday that you sit there trying to work out where the year went.

We recently had our little EFOY event with the team and I wanted to share a few stats because we are so incredibly proud (and if we’re honest, a little exhausted):
✨ 229 client meetings held (in just 29 weeks—thanks to an African adventure and baby Penny!)
✨ 54 SOAs produced, presented and implemented
✨ 7 out of 7 insurance claims successfully supported for our clients (the one I’m most proud of)

Today, I’m looking at my two littlest loves (as today is my mum day), grateful for my incredible team and celebrating 4 years of a business I am so proud of. But most of all, I’m grateful for the trust our clients place in us every single day to walk by them on their financial journey.

A little life & business update from Serenity.

As I get ready to welcome our second baby very soon, I’ll be taking a short maternity leave 🍼

What this means:
❤️ I’ll still be here supporting existing clients with pre‑tax planning before EFOY.
❤️ We’ll continue with our Growth Meetings for existing clients from June.
❤️ New client meetings will reopen from September.

🎂 Celebrating three years of Serenity Financial Planning! I must admit it's still a bit of a pinch me moment to be sitting here in my own firm with my own team.

It's not necessarily a story I have shared loudly before but one of the reasons I started Serenity was because I was chasing "peace" when it came to how I worked and to shed the Corporate hustle culture. It sounds counter-intuitive to start a business to bring calm but that's exactly what it bought me. Peace that I could work with the clients I wanted to help, provide the type of advice in the style that encourages and empower clients to feel comfortable and confident with their finances.

I have to admit though, recently I have started saying to my team "we just need to find our tempo" "or once we get through this season we will find our rhythm" and that scares me. Why? Because it's echo's "just one more quarter" mantra I used to say in Corporate days and vowed I would never again say.

So as we enter into our next year of business we are changing ever so slightly how we onboard new clients, we are introducing monthly caps to ensure that when you come in for your initial meeting we have the capacity but more importantly there is space in the calendar to meet with you sooner rather than later. It also ensures I still have space available for those clients already in the Serenity world. My focus is to work hard towards a goal I have set since day one and that is to provide prompt and meaningful advice and I hope that as we celebrate year four of Serenity we are closer to it than where we are now.

IT’S that time of year again… the end of financial year (EOFY) is creeping around fast and it’s important that you’re getting yourself prepared to make sure you’re in the best financial position possible come tax time.

🖇 Check your superannuation concessional caps.

🖇 Collate details of income you’ve generated this year - don't forget investments, dividends and bonuses. 

🖇 Turning 30? Look into private health and understand what it means if you don't have it in place. 

🖇 If you have a managed investment account or direct shares, your annual tax statement won’t typically be available until August or September of this financial year.

Honestly I get it! I hear it on a daily basis with clients when we talk about the b word... Budgeting - it can feel yucky, constricting and sometimes just overwhelming!

But here's the thing, budgeting is really important:
💰You can see if there is an expense that is creeping (for example, yearly premium
increases)
💰 You can see if there is space for saving or extra repayments, or if actually you are
leaking
💰 Reviewing often allows you to check on the leaks and to see what can be refined
💰 It allows for control of where you are spending money.
💰It helps you monitor your expenses and how much money is left to spend or save
