There have been a few media articles recently about how the banks are blaming brokers for "eating their lunch" ( read: unearned disproportionate bonus) and the MFAA has now provided some perspective on the matter.

Brokers work for the client's benefit and if the bank profits have been reduced ( collectively they only made $ 30 billion last year) then all those savings have gone into the pocket of ordinary Australians and I feel that is a great thing to have happened.

There has been a rush of headlines over recent weeks about banks being 'at war' with mortgage brokers. These headlines are misguided.
