When you’re buying your first home, you don’t know what you don’t know. You’re excited, you want the property, and you trust the people guiding you.

But please remember: the selling agent represents the vendor. You need someone looking after YOUR interests too.

Before you sign or agree to remove a condition in your contract, speak with your conveyancer or solicitor. Have them review the contract, explain what those conditions protect you from and what proceeding without them could mean.

And call your mortgage broker before removing a finance clause. We can explain where your finance stands and work with your legal adviser on timeframes.

These conditions can offer important protection for you, but their wording and deadlines matter.

Buying a home is a massive financial commitment. You deserve to understand exactly what you’re agreeing to.
