Piggy was lucky enough to visit another one of our local schools Alligator Creek State School for their Under 8’s day last week!

We have supported Alligator Creek SS for many years and we are glad Piggy could come along + have a great time with our local youngsters!

This week we had the absolute pleasure of recognising Bev Hauley for an incredible 20 years of volunteering at Mackay Base Hospital.

Bev began volunteering in 2006 with Red Cross, before continuing her journey with My Hospital Foundation, and for two decades has generously given her time, kindness and care to support patients, families and visitors in our hospital community.

Volunteers like Bev are the heart of what we do. Whether it’s offering a helping hand, a friendly face or simply being there when someone needs support most, Bev has made a lasting difference to so many people over the years.

Thank you, Bev, for your unwavering dedication, compassion and the many ways you’ve supported our hospital community over the past 20 years. We are so grateful to celebrate this milestone with you and thank you for everything you do. 💜

On Friday our Manager Erin, Customer Relationship Officers Josie and Kylie and our Board Chair Karen attended the Mackay Region Chamber of Commerce Best in Business Awards - what a night!

Community Bank Sarina sponsored the 'Legacy Legends' award for Mackay’s best family-owned businesses. Congratulations to M&P Services - Quality Transportable Buildings for receiving this award for 2026 - well deserved!

Well done to all the nominees and other award winners on the night - special mention to two organisations we are proud supporters of, Crossroad Arts Inc for receiving the 'Heart of Gold' not for profit award and The Neighbourhood Hub for receiving the 'It's not easy being green' environmental and sustainability award.

We were so glad we could be there to celebrate with you all and the talent in the room was a testament to the amazing businesses throughout our region.

Thank a chaplain this week - National Chaplaincy Week!

National Chaplaincy Week is a great opportunity to raise awareness of the value of school chaplaincy and the amazing work volunteer chaplains do – championing and caring for our local school communities.

Community Bank Sarina Bendigo Bank has supported the Sarina District Schools Chaplaincy Committee for many years, assisting the chaplains to provide social, emotional and spiritual support for school students in the Sarina area.
