🚨 ROCKINGHAM IS CHANGING FOREVER
The Western Australian Planning Commission has given the green light to the Rockingham City Centre Plan, a massive long-term vision that will transform our city into a high-density, coastal powerhouse.
This isn't just a "concept" anymore. The plan identifies five distinct precincts that will change the face of our region:
🌊 Waterfront Village: The foreshore is going vertical. We are looking at potential heights of 16 to 24 storeys in key spots, creating a world-class tourism and dining precinct.
🏗️ The City Centre: A high-intensity hub for jobs, shops, and apartments. Expect greener, walkable streets with a focus on people instead of cars.
🛥️ Wanliss Street Marina: A major win for the 10% of Perth boat owners who live here. This is now the highest coastal infrastructure priority for the City.
🚌 The Transit Loop: The long-awaited Rockingham City Centre Transit System (RCCTS) will finally connect the Train Station to the Beach with high-frequency, mid-tier transport.
This plan aims to unlock $9.5 billion in economic uplift and create over 8,700 ongoing jobs for our local community. From the Defence Innovation Hub on Dixon Road to the "Transit Village" at the old sporting fields, the scale of this development is unlike anything we’ve seen in the South West.
🤔 Is this the "city vibe" Rockingham needs, or are we losing our coastal charm?
