๐จ Budget Update: Property & Tax Changes Ahead ๐จ
๐๐ฟ๐ผ๐บ ๐ญ ๐๐๐น๐ ๐ฎ๐ฌ๐ฎ๐ณ, ๐ฝ๐ฟ๐ผ๐ฝ๐ผ๐๐ฒ๐ฑ ๐ฐ๐ต๐ฎ๐ป๐ด๐ฒ๐ ๐ถ๐ป๐ฐ๐น๐๐ฑ๐ฒ:
๐ Negative gearing ending for established properties purchased after Budget night
๐๏ธ New builds still eligible for negative gearing benefits
๐ The current 50% CGT discount being replaced with a new indexed system
๐ฐ A proposed minimum 30% tax on capital gains
๐ A minimum 30% tax rate on discretionary trust distributions from 1 July 2028
Importantly, existing property holdings before Budget night are proposed to remain under the current rules.
While legislation still needs to pass, one thing is becoming increasingly clear:
