Our adviser Karen McLeod recently attended a Parents for Climate gathering that brought together an inspiring mix of people working on climate solutions across finance, policy, advocacy, conservation, science, technology and community leadership.

Reflecting on the evening, Karen was encouraged by the generosity and shared commitment in the room, and the energised conversations served as a reminder that meaningful climate action is driven by collaboration and us as a community willing to turn ideas into action. Thank you Marie Carvolth for hosting this great evening!

As National Reconciliation Week 2026 draws to a close, we’ve been reflecting on some of the conversations from last week's Responsible Investment Association Australasia (RIAA) Conference.

Kado Muir, Chair of the National Native Title Council, spoke candidly about Indigenous cultural heritage protection and the role investors can play in shaping better outcomes. His perspective underscored that cultural heritage is not only a matter of respect and justice, but also an important consideration for responsible investment.

is a time to reflect on our shared history, listen to different perspectives and consider how we can build stronger relationships.

This year's call to go "All In" feels especially relevant. Every person carries a story. Every story has the power to shape a better future.

Today marks three years since an independent review recommended strengthening Australia’s modern slavery laws. Yet the laws are still failing to protect workers from harm.

Behind global supply chains are real people, the people who produce our food, clothing, and technology, and too many are being seriously exploited.

Alongside more than 100 signatories across investors, unions, business, civil society, academia and survivor advocacy, we’re calling on the Australian Government to reform Australia’s Modern Slavery Act and ensure businesses take meaningful action to protect human rights in their supply chains.

Because reporting alone isn’t enough.

Modern slavery risks are still hiding in the supply chains of everyday products - from solar panels to clothing to food. Advisers are increasingly expected to help clients navigate these issues, but the information they receive is often too vague to be useful.

At the Responsible Investment Association Australasia Conference, Måns Carlsson OAM and Karen McLeod together with Rachel Alembakis and Ethan Kusch will unpack what real human rights due diligence looks like in practice: site visits, worker interviews, escalation pathways, and genuine remediation. Måns’ on‑the‑ground experience shows exactly what meaningful action looks like, and why advisers need to be able to tell the difference between glossy reporting and real risk management.

And the timing matters. Australia is preparing to strengthen its Modern Slavery Act, with mandatory due diligence, clearer expectations, and stronger enforcement all on the horizon. Advisers will play a key role in lifting standards across the sector.

The session will give advisers practical tools to assess fund managers, ask sharper questions, spot red flags, and communicate these issues clearly to clients. If you want clarity, confidence, and real‑world examples, this workshop will deliver.

Having come close to throwing in the towel, only to find her feet, Leanne is passionate about encouraging young women to consider engineering as a career.

She has volunteered for the Wonder Project – an initiative that aims to inspire young people to take on STEM (science, technology, engineering and maths) subjects, and was a diversity and inclusion ambassador at Aurecon.
