This Saturday, the Quirindi Lions Rugby Union are playing their first HOME Grand Final in 32 YEARS, taking on the Moree Weebolla Bulls! 🏉🏆

We are so proud of the club and absolutely love seeing the whole Quirindi community getting behind them. Businesses, homes and streets are turning BLUE & WHITE, and you can feel the excitement around town! 💙🤍

Last year, our Lions travelled to Moree and beat the Bulls on their home turf to break a 33-year premiership drought.

We did it in Moree… now let’s do it at HOME! 💪🦁

So get your blue and white on, get down there and get LOUD because this Saturday, you’ll hear the whole of Quirindi ROAR…

Are you an experienced accountant looking for your next opportunity in a supportive, progressive firm where your work genuinely makes a difference?

Sage Wealth Builders is growing, and we’re looking for an experienced Senior Accountant to join our Business Services team in our Quirindi office.

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who enjoys building strong client relationships, delivering high-quality taxation and advisory services, and helping business owners achieve better financial outcomes.

💼 About the role
You’ll manage your own portfolio of clients and work closely with business owners, advisors and our wider team across:

• Taxation and business advisory
• Financial statements and income tax returns
• Tax planning and business structuring
• ATO matters and compliance
• Strategic business and growth advice
• Mentoring and supporting junior team members

🌱 What we’re looking for
Ideally, you’ll have previous Senior Accountant experience in public practice, strong taxation and advisory knowledge, excellent communication skills and a genuine commitment to helping clients succeed.

CA or CPA qualifications (or working towards them) and experience with Xero and cloud-based accounting software are highly regarded.

Yesterday, Jodie swapped the office for Tribecca & Co Tamworth, joining their wonderful team to deliver a Tax and Wealth Building Workshop. 🌿💰

Tribecca owner Rebecca, invited Jodie to help her team better understand their taxes and personal finances, because knowing where your money is going and saving on taxes is the most powerful step you can take towards building the future you want.

The workshop covered practical, everyday topics including:

There are days when we're reminded just how lucky we are to do what we do 💚

Today, one of our wonderful clients surprised us with this stunning arrangement of Australian native flowers. They had some left over and thought of us... just because🌿🌼

Please note that the Sage Wealth Builders office will be closed on Thursday, 30 July due to a planned power outage affecting our office.

The outage is expected to last all day, meaning we'll be unable to access our phones, emails, or office systems during this time.

⛽ Off-Road Fuel Users: Have You Noticed a Jump in Your June BAS?

If your business claims Fuel Tax Credits for diesel or other eligible fuels used off-road, you may notice your BAS refund is lower than usual.
From 1 April to 30 June 2026, the ATO temporarily reduced the Fuel Tax Credit rates.

For many businesses using diesel off-road, such as farmers, earthmoving contractors, miners and other primary producers the Fuel Tax Credit rate has reduced to 20.6 cents per litre during this June quarter.

Please note that from 1 July this rate increases to 36.6 cents per litre.

We get it, the names don't help!

Here’s a quick breakdown:
👉 Medicare levy = an amount most of us pay (in addition to tax) to help fund Medicare

👉 Medicare levy surcharge = an extra charge you MAY need to pay if:
- you earn above a certain amount, and
- you and your family don't have appropriate private hospital cover.

Both payments are calculated when you lodge your return, so you might see one, or both included in the calculation of your tax payable or refund.

If you have to pay Medicare levy or Medicare levy surcharge or both, the amount you pay depends on your income.
