Growth of Olive Fantastiko

Journey that is filled with adventure and challenges

2004 is the start, planting of olive trees, 2006 consistent of 422 of 4 cultivars, Frantoio, Arbequina, Koroneiki and Manzanillo. September 2007 recorded a loss of around 75%, also have decided to replant of 100 saplings to which only 10% recovered from being stripped and being pulled out from the ground.

2008-09

trees recovery was at 75% with new shoots and have established the growth, to date I have 255 trees on record. Olive Fantastiko expanded and opened a retail shop that was located in Sydney's south west region of Earlwood, dealing with premium extra virgin olive oils from regions of Australia and New Zealand.

2013 have decided to shut the doors and to expand my horizons, to Quipolly and build a home and maintain the trees.

2014 moved and relocated with my dog, building of a home and looking forward of producing local olive oil as "KG Quipolly EVOO"

Trees were met with much of challenges along the way, with drought, diseases that stripped leaves, their dormant stages of no growth, flowers that have sprouted and fallen with no fruit bearing, sheep that have decided to ring bark the trunks. Heart wrenching moments, but, with their ability of resilience and determination they have abundance of growth. Currently I live with my trees and nature, to hear them speak and whisper in the winds it is a privilege, leaves are shinning silver, green, they are the most pleasant moments. I share this story with you so you too can become the part of a story that will fill your desires and the tastes to come from mother earth. It is more than just a commodity you can buy at the supermarket. There are twice as many olive varieties as there are grapes, and twice as much variability in the taste of olive oil. It is the very essence of Mediterranean culture.

Howdee folks

Harvesting season has arrived once again, trees are bearing fruit but not as many, through out the summer season, heat and humidity present as low in rain fall.

Fruit not developing as much as I would like, but will wait for further development of fruit.

Also have located parasites, Black Scale starting to form on certain trees that were infected last season, buggers can cause so much damage as they spread and turn the whole tree into a black dewy resin, pics of parasites.

* Some men raise the question whether the social faculty is a necessary element in man's nature: nevertheless even they, I think, would not question that cleanliness at any rate is essential to it, and that this, if anything, divides him from the lower animals.

The Olive trees health and cleanliness is just important as it provides natures own health properties to a soal, and from the body essence of nature.

* The primary and fundamental purity is that of the soul, and so with impurity. You cannot find the same impurity in a soul as a body........

As caretakers of Olive Trees, we have been selected to provide, "to the best abilities", to maintain their health, cleanliness, ensuring that the fruits, following the milling, so that the purity of that drop is filled with flavor, character.

* Epictetus speaks on human presentation, cleanliness, self respect. He adds, we have water, olive-oil, hands, towel, strigils soap, and on occasion every other sort of apparatus to make the body clean.

Conclusion, Olive trees and their fruit need attention for care, as caretakers are bound by nature to their needs, as our bodies needs are cared for.

Howdeee folks,

Local Bakery in Qurindi currently holds bottles of Fantastiko oils, which currently a label will follow, but at present label of the contents are dsiplayed.

Big thank you for displaying and introducing the Olive Oil to the community.

Staff are awesome, so if you manage to drop in, ask for olive/sundried tomato bread scrolls, and also sourdough breads with olives and rosemerry loafs, dip and drizzle - enjoy.

Sharing a moment of lifes taste

Local bakery in Quirindi had managed to create a bread scroll, as I call it, with Olives and sun dried tomatoes. Warmed it up and drizzled freshly pressed olive oil as it soaked in, yeah wow the taste, hmm yamo

At times we all need to sit back and enjoy what you have created and achieved for the past seasons.

Some like to sit near an ocean that the wave laps up against the shore, while others enjoy the tanquillity of nature and to reflect on past and what is ahead.

So that moment of life when you sit back and absorb such natural beauty, with a light snack and your fav red vino, the tatses of that scroll, it takes you to a next level as life ceases for just a moment.

Follow up from posting back in April in regards to oil and settling.

Olive Oil settling with ease and care, taste of fruits and freshness with that peppery hint, ah smooth as silk.

One must feel humble of natures own growth, as the internal is cared by her own way, as we care externally, to produce the finest and pure Extra Virgin Olive Oil - EVOO, body n soul.

Finale post on goats "Flappers" journey

View was based on - Natural Selection, Instinct, stoicism

Since my last posting, many challenges that Flapper had endured that it can only be described as "number listed" to be perished.

Ensuring that the enclosure was secured and safe, from varmits attempting to attack, many foxes had attempted but they were foxed out.

Flappers, goats confidnence started to build on a daily basis, the instinct has increased as the stoic stand to fight had grown. Natural selection - weak/strong, can be viewed that it has been overturned.

But, also how nature has its way, as it was numbered it must go, so the goat was always targeted and as it was protected, and how the goat had build that notion of knowing that it was protected, confidence.

Natural Selection - Its power compared with man's selection.....can we doubt (remembering that many individuals are born than can possibly survive) that individuals having any advantage, however slight over others, would have the best chance of surviving and of procreating their king?

Instinct - "Insticts comparable with habit", .....subordinate importance to the effects of the natural selection of what may be called accidental variations of insticts...

I recon Flapper had managed to show that it can be overturned and to be shown that strenght with stoic ability, anything is possible.

Decision was made for Flapper to move on to a new home that have a family and other kin of her own kind, goats life is now her own journey.

Howdee, part 2

It seems that flapper had grown but remains small.

It follows us around and eating the weeds and helping out with olive trees lower leaf growth.

Now the kid has her own enclosure and a help from a friend Ian Clarke that donated a bale of hay, now she is at ease from night predators.

So, the evolution of life has been delayed, as the confidence grows and resistance is developing.

We can only provide comfort and safety, but as nature provides the main source of life .

"Not all weak diminish, but they come back with vegence".

As time moves forward, will keep up to date of kids growth.

Howdeee, part 1

Sharing a story about Darwinian evolution - natural selection and Stoicism.

It all started about 5 weeks ago, when my dog brought back a small little baby goat, either it was dumped by the mother for being small and weak, well that is unknown.

I heard a cry coming from that small baby, I inspected it and there was no fatal wounds, so I rescued it and said, "well if you survive kid we will look for your mob", so that you can return to the mountains.

Days gone by as the baby goat builds her strenght and courage, kid wasn't interested in her mob but started to adapt to our culture, my 2 dogs have taken her in also, as we are all.

Kids name is now Flapper as she has long ears.

It is small but building an attitude and resilient, insticts are growing as her warning signals coming from an eagle above.

I guess there must be a reasom for such introduction of life and death, we as humans are to learn so much from a small defenceless, small and yet resilient soul.
