Najlepša hvala vam vsem...in na zdravje za čudovito praznovanje!

Heartfelt thanks to you all…and cheers to a wonderful celebration!

Our Club was filled with community spirit, from 1st Generation Slovenians who built our community, their children, grandchildren and great grandchildren who are proudly carrying the legacy torch. We also felt very proud to have shared this day with so many members of the wider community who we consider our friends…vedno ste dobrodošli – you are always welcome at the Slovenian Club.

We were honoured and grateful to have special guests who joined us for this special day:
• Veleposlaništvo Slovenije v Canberri / Embassy of Slovenia in Canberra Ambassador, His Excellency Mr Marko Ham
• Slovenian Consulate in South Australia Mr Adrian Vatovec and Mrs Irene Vatovec

We express our gratitude to our Slovenian Adelaide Singing Group led by Mr Adrian Vatovec for bringing joy to our day and preserving our language through music. A special thank you to our musicians, Hahndorf Music - Über Oompah who entertained us with high energy festive tunes and pulled the heartstrings when the children were invited onto the stage to ring the bells.

To our event organisers Sonja and Silvana, our president Branko Pahor and the Slovenian Club Committee, our cooks and the many volunteers who helped make this day a truly memorable one…you are the lifeblood of our community and work tirelessly to help us preserve the Slovenian Community and culture for generations to come! It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of another beautiful Slovenian soul…Alojz Mahne

Alojz was Born in Hrušica, Slovenia on the 30th December 1938 and was the sixth of 7 children: Jože, Milka, Zora, Franka, Marija, Alojz, Vlado and Dragica

Alojz passed away peacefully on Wednesday 1st July 2026 aged 87 years.

Beloved husband of the late Voika, loving father and father-in-law to Miriam and Leslie, Boris and Liz and beloved Nono to Mikaela and Justin.

Alojz’s family and friends are respectively informed that the Funeral Service will be conducted:

• TUESDAY 7th July 2026
• 10.00am
• Berry Funeral Home

Alojz will be remembered as a beloved Slovenian Member who also donated his time to help build the Slovenian Clubs and the Slovenian Church and was always ready and generous to help fellow community members. We will also remember his larger-than-life smile, happy and cheerful nature.

The Slovenian Community send its deepest condolences to Alojz’s family and friends. Our thoughts and prayers go to all who knew Alojz here in Adelaide, around Australia and Slovenia.
