Vale Paul Martin 🕊

It is a very sad time for Phoenix Insurance Brokers having to share that we lost one of our senior brokers, part owner and much loved colleague, Paul Martin, to a motor vehicle accident in Kununurra late last week.

Paul was only 38 years old, but most would appreciate that he had squeezed many more years of life into the time he was with us. Paul was always looking for new frontiers, new people to meet, new clients to help and new problems to solve.

Paul had an energy that was engaging and people were naturally drawn to him, he was comfortable in all environments and was as much at ease in the remote outback as he was in a boardroom.

All Paul needed was a cause, an Insurer not doing the right thing or a client with a troublesome claim. Helping people gave Paul the greatest satisfaction and he hated being told no…..he took it as a personal challenge.

Paul was a larger than life character with an enviable thirst for life. The crew at Phoenix are devastated by this untimely loss and our hearts go out to his family and friends. 🙏🏽💙

As our friends & customers in the North West brace themselves for potential cyclonic weather caused by TC Anika 🌪💦, we want to remind you how to prepare your home & business for situations of extreme weather. ⛈

BEFORE A CYCLONE ⬇️

✅ Review your cyclone plan & check your household knows what to do.

✅ Ensure your emergency kit is complete by adding all additional items.

✅ Prepare your home inside & out - including securing cyclone shutters & making sure all pets are inside.

✅ Before closing your business, make sure all windows & doors are secure, use sandbags to prevent any water from entering your premises.

✅ Secure trailers, garden sheds, outdoor furniture, trampolines, rainwater tanks, LPG bottles, loose material, rubbish, boats & caravans.

✅ Check in with family, friends and neighbours to make sure they’re preparing too.

DURING A CYCLONE ⬇️

🌀If sheltering at home, fill sinks, buckets, containers & bath with clean water in case mains water supply is affected.

🌀If RED ALERT has been issued, you must stay inside. It is extremely dangerous to go outside during the cyclone as flying debris can cause injury.

If you are sheltering at home, look for ways to keep yourself and your family safe. For example, moving to a room without windows, using mattresses & cushions for protection.
