GREAT NEWS FOR FIRST HOME BUYERS
The Australian Government has released 40,000 new places under the Federal Government Home Guarantee Scheme (HGS). From today:
- 35,000 First Home Guarantees (formerly the First Home Loan Deposit Scheme) will be available each financial year for eligible first home buyers, up from 10,000 places last year.
- 5,000 Family Home Guarantees will be available for eligible single parents with at least one dependent child each financial year until 30 June 2025.
- Property price cap increases for cities and regions will come into effect.
- Five additional non-major lenders have been appointed to the Scheme’s lender panel, bringing the total number of participating lenders up to 32.
Applications for Guarantees can be made through a mortgage broker.

The Federal Government's new $680 million HomeBuilder program announced on 4 June 2020 makes available $25,000 grants to help build or substantially renovate your home.

The cash rate decision for March has been announced by the RBA with a rate cut.

The RBA has reduced the cash rate to a new record low of 0.50% in response to the economic threat posed by the coronavirus outbreak and bush fire crisis. Read more
