Happy New Year!🎉

As we step into a new year, we are feeling hugely grateful. 2025 gave us so much to celebrate at Purvis AgriFinance, here are a few highlights from our year.

• Laura joined the business, giving our clients an extra set of hands, eyes and brains, as well as a succession plan so you know you will be in good hands for years to come. We also got a new puppy who Laura insisted be included in our business photos 🐾

• We took home Agricultural Brokerage of the Year at the Commercial Finance Awards.

• We got to visit some beautiful regions, from the Eyre Peninsula to the South East and almost everywhere in between. We love being able to visit clients on farm and build relationships in person.

• We had more Zoom calls than we can count. For our interstate clients and in between meetings, video calls are the next best thing and still a great way to catch up properly.

• Deb spoke at a few events, including Livestock SA Sticky Beak Days, WOTL Understanding Your Numbers, and Hart Field Site Group Inc Getting Your Crops In. As well as continuing her role as a board member for Fat Farmers.

• We attended field days, International Women’s Day events, and other seminars to stay on top of the latest ag news and keep learning.

• And finally, we continued working with, and started working with, the best clients in the industry, in our non-biased opinion 😉

A big thank you to everyone who has supported us this year. Wishing you a safe break, and for those still harvesting, take care and hopefully, a rest is not too far away. 🌾

We hope everyone has a safe and a well deserved break. To those still harvesting we hope it is going well and you enjoy a break once you are finished. We will be out of office until the 5th of January, enjoying time with our family. Of course any major issues send us an email or give us a call and we will help where we can.

Your annual bank review is likely coming up in the New Year, and our biggest piece of advice is prepare early. The sooner you identify any potential challenges with your banking, the sooner we can help you find the best option for your business.

Even if everything looks on track, annual reviews are a great chance to strengthen your relationship with your bank manager. Turning up organised, with clear numbers and a plan for the season builds confidence and trust in how you run your operation.

Really proud of this outcome for our clients. Sometimes all it takes is a fresh perspective and someone who can translate your vision to the banks. We found our clients a relationship with a bank that supports them and saved them a significant amount of money in the process.

When I am not in the office I am a farmers wife and a proud Fat Farmers board member. This weekend I got to be both.

Reggie the cav and I did a few hot laps in the header with Rob, then I headed to Jamestown to help at the soft launch of the Fat Farmers health hub. It is a great initiative creating space for health professionals to run checks for our rural community, and it was a huge hit.

Weekends like this are what help us understand our clients on a deeper level.

Today is World Soil Day, and while it may be weird to celebrate a bit of dirt, farmers know better than anyone the importance that soil health has on their industry and on producing the food we eat.

Soil not only supports nearly all food production, but it also drives ecosystem health, filters water, and stores carbon.

Each year we see the farming industry adopt more sustainable practices that protect soil structure and long term productivity. Considering it can take up to 1,000 years for just a few centimetres of soil to form, these efforts play a vital role in safeguarding the future of Australian farms.

Harvest can be a challenging time for everyone with long hours and the pressure to get everything done. It can be easy to overlook your own wellbeing, but looking after yourself is one of the most important parts of getting through the season safely. Some tips to get through the next couple of weeks:

1. Take your time, one mistake will cost you much more time than taking a few extra seconds to slow down.

2. Pack yourself good, healthy food and drink plenty.

3. Finally, one piece of advice I gave in one of my very first newsletters, “almost everything will work again if you unplug it for a few minutes, even you”… which I always think is a great reminder to take a break when you need it.
