We asked Charlie what he thought of the OTRA Yokohama Mitas Tyres Goldfields Run and what stood out for him.

One of the highlights was exploring the old Goldfields towns and their history, seeing how people live around these former mining towns today and experiencing the activity and communities that continue to thrive in these areas.

And then there’s the adventure that comes when you leave the bitumen behind.

Following the tracks and venturing into uncharted territory, you come across all sorts of hidden nature gems. There’s time to stop, have a ramble, take some photos and simply enjoy where you are. At this time of year, the landscape was full of colour, with wildflowers adding even more beauty to the journey.

But Charlie’s biggest message is simple: why not come and join us?

It’s a great way to get out, meet new people and experience places you might never otherwise see. You meet people from all walks of life, people you may never have crossed paths with in your everyday life, all coming together for the same reasons: adventure, friendship, community and charity.
And yes, there’s plenty of fun along the way.

Participation is also kept as accessible as possible, so more people have the opportunity to get involved.

What does it cost?
Membership: $50 per person annually
Event entry: $100 to $300 per person
Minimum donation: $500 per vehicle per run

So you get to explore, meet new people, enjoy the great outdoors and be part of something that gives back to the community and supports charity.
The next run is possibly March 2027.

Happy Work Anniversary, Kristine Hackett!

From joining Charles just a few months after he started the business from home, to now being possibly the longest-serving Avoca team member other than Charlie himself. What a journey!

You are the true quiet achiever, always getting things done, always reliable, and someone that Avoca simply couldn’t do without. So much of what you do happens behind the scenes, but it plays such a huge part in keeping everything running smoothly.

Your loyalty, dedication and commitment over the years have been invaluable, and we are so lucky to have had you along for the journey.

17 Years of Carolyn! 🎉

Today we are celebrating Carolyn Iddles and 17 years with Avoca Insurance Brokers.

Carolyn has been part of our story from the early days. She was there when Charles moved into our current Cambridge Street office, and she has been a constant ever since.
Always active, always on the go, and rarely far from a tennis court, Carolyn brings plenty of energy to the team and is someone we can always count on.

With Avoca celebrating 21 years in business this July, it is pretty special to have Carolyn marking 17 of those years alongside us.

Congratulations, Carolyn! Here is to everything still to come.

Today marks an important milestone for Avoca Insurance Brokers as we enter a new chapter in our long‑term succession planning and continued growth.
We are pleased to announce the appointment of two new Directors!

Mia-Carla Tree has been appointed Managing Director, guiding Avoca into its next era with the same unwavering commitment to our people, clients and community that has defined our business for more than two decades.

Jimmy Grehan has been appointed Executive Director, reflecting his exceptional leadership, deep industry expertise and dedication to delivering outstanding outcomes for our clients.

At the same time, Charlie Elders will step down from the role of Managing Director and continue as Founder and Owner of Avoca. Since establishing the business in 2005, Charlie has built Avoca on a foundation of trust, integrity and genuine relationships. His vision has shaped who we are today, and he will continue to play an active and influential role in the business.

While leadership titles are evolving, our commitment to our clients, our people and the values that have always guided Avoca remains unchanged.

🎄 Christmas in July done right! 🎄

Last Thursday, 23 July, we welcomed clients, insurer partners and friends to our Wembley office for our Christmas in July celebration, co sponsored by 360 Underwriting Solutions.

It was an afternoon filled with great food, plenty of laughs, friendly Christmas Bingo competition and even better company.

A big thank you to Steve Howell, David Hutchinson, Sally Walker, Rebecca Hamer and Leigh Jackson from the 360 Underwriting Solutions team for helping make the afternoon such a success.
