Over the years, WA has been tested by nature. Each time, our support stood ready.
In 1961, fire swept through Dwellingup in the South West. We paid out $1.1million (adjusted for inflation), helping to restore the town’s forestry industry and community supports such as rebuilding the school.
Seven years later, the ground itself shifted. The Meckering earthquake caused such damage that staying in the area was no longer safe. With $3 million in support, we contributed to the town relocation. Giving locals a new place to call home.
Then in 2010, the infamous Perth hailstorm battered the city. We paid out $37 million to help repair roads, state-owned buildings and replace school buses that were irreparable.
Different disasters. Different decades. One constant. We stand with Western Australians when it matters most.
