๐ข UPDATE: The ATO credit card payment ban has been delayed.
The Australian Government announced on 9 October 2026 that the ATO will continue accepting credit card payments until 30 June 2027.
The planned change had been due to take effect after 30 November 2026. The extension gives the ATO more time to consult, particularly with small businesses.
How could this affect you or your business?
If you or your business uses a credit card to make ATO payments, the previously announced 30 November cut-off no longer applies. The announcement extends the transition period; it does not state that the planned change has been permanently cancelled.
