This Christmas, our team came together to support the vital work of St Patrick’s Community Support Centre in Fremantle. Staff generously donated essential supplies—including tinned foods, pasta, biscuits, milk, and more—which were matched by the business.

St Pat’s is a charity dedicated to providing community housing and specialist support services for people facing homelessness in Perth’s south metro region. Thanks to everyone’s efforts, we helped sustain vital assistance for families, women over 55, and children experiencing homelessness—groups whose numbers have grown significantly in WA.

By working together, we support St Pat’s mission to break cycles of poverty and disadvantage, offering not just temporary relief but long-term solutions. Our donations provided dignity, joy, and choice to recipients, allowing them to access both immediate crisis support and pathways to secure housing and a brighter future.

Thank you to every staff member who contributed and to Lighthouse Capital for matching donations. Your generosity made a real difference this holiday season.

Last night, Lighthouse Capital had the honor of co-hosting an exclusive evening at The Art Gallery of Western Australia - AGWA

We kicked off the night at TIME • BAR, where we heard from Gallery Director Colin Walker and Foundation Council Chair Paul Chamberlain as they shared thrilling plans for the future of AGWA. This was followed by a tour of the highly acclaimed immersive exhibition in the Centenary Galleries.

The event was especially significant as it coincided with Julia Schortinghuis' recent appointment to the AGWA Foundation Council. The Foundation remains grateful for the ongoing support of generous donors, who have consistently funded and championed the art and artists of Western Australia. This new role offers Julia a fantastic opportunity to expand her knowledge and skills in a new and exciting field.

As we wrap up 2024, we're reflecting on our year of ‘Transformation’. From Licensee extraction and product transitions to significant tech developments, it's been a year of remarkable growth. We're excited for even more progress in 2025, with our new theme being ‘Evolution’.

Our team has achieved so much! Jack started his Professional Year, Bernard joined the Licensee Board, several team members contributed to GPG sub-committees, Julia joined the Art Gallery of Western Australia (AGWA) Foundation Council and PLC School council, Donelle gained valuable experience in the US with leading practices and practitioners, and we welcomed Chloe to our admin support team. We bid farewell to Diane Richards after two decades with the company and appreciated Rebecca's brief but impactful time with us as she finalized her studies.

Our final team-building event of the year (aptly named ‘Light The House’) commenced with a half day of strategy planning and presentations at the office, before heading to a 'Zoomazing Race' at Perth Zoo followed by a fun evening together (And a not so fun morning after). Not only did we test our animal knowledge as part of the experience, but we also supported Perth Zoos incredible conservation efforts with our booking – highly recommended for your next team event!

Lastly, this year we're proud to support the RizeUp Christmas Gift Appeal as our chosen charity. This initiative helps families in need by distributing over 30,000 gifts to Domestic and Family Violence Refuges and Specialist Crisis Services. Every staff member had the opportunity to contribute to this wonderful cause, and Lighthouse Capital matched each donation. Together, we're making a difference in the lives of those who need it most this holiday season.

We're deeply appreciative for the support of our team, clients, and industry peers as we step into the new year. Here's to a wonderful festive season and a 2025 filled with health, prosperity and continued growth!

With thanks and gratitude,
The Lighthouse Capital Team x

🎄We were very excited to introduce our Christmas Gift Appeal to WA this year and the response from the local businesses was wonderful. The team from Lighthouse Capital were encouraged to purchase a gift up to $20 value which was then matched by the company. The result speaks for itself. 🎁🙌

It was a big week of celebrations for our practice this week as we celebrated two significant milestones. Diane Richards our Finance Manager ticked over 20 years of service - quite an amazing feat these days! Thank you Di for all that you have done over many years for our team - we are so very grateful. 🙏

And yesterday we had a fabulous day celebrating Ronise Reads retirement from Lighthouse. We had moments of laughter (and inevitable tears) as we remisinisced over the wonderful times we have shared over many years. Thank you Ronise from all of us for everything - we will miss you! Enjoy this next chapter and we look forward to hearing about all of your travels and fun times ahead with family and friends. Enjoy !

Back in 2020, Lighthouse Capital launched The Good Money Habits podcast with the aim of creating a timeless resource for the broader community. The podcast focuses on building financial literacy and to encourage the establishment of good money habits to support financial stability and security. Back then, inflation was non-existent. How things have changed since then!

There is a lot going on in the world at the moment, so we have recorded and uploaded a two-part series that we thought may be of interest. Our portfolios have been positioned for interest rates staying higher for longer for some time now – a message that equity markets are now finally absorbing and adjusting to.

In part one, Julia interviews Michael Ip, our Director and Head of Investments and Research, as they examine what is going on in the world. With meaningful inflation, the fastest interest rate rises we’ve ever seen, geopolitical tensions, record population growth, housing supply issues, energy prices ever rising and ultra-low unemployment in the mix, what does this all mean and how does it impact portfolio construction? Julia and Michael work through how these structural changes interconnect, how it may play out and what it means in this new world of investing.

In the second part of this series, Julia chats with Michelle Taylor, Director Lighthouse Capital North, who takes us back to the basics. For those wondering how to navigate the new world of higher interest rates for longer, they explore the essentials so that you can ensure that you are ready to navigate the path ahead.

We hope you find it of interest - please feel free to share with family and/or friends who you feel might find it helpful!

We would like to warmly welcome Michelle Taylor to the Lighthouse Capital group as the Director for the newly formed division Lighthouse Capital North.

Michelle has a wealth of experience in holistic financial planning and we value her client first approach, professionalism and integrity that she brings to Lighthouse Capital. In a short space of time, she has already made an immense contribution to the group. Some of you may already have caught her appearance on Channel 7 news last night!
