Brickworks is expected to recommence operations at its Cardup facility from March 2027, producing around 17 million Maxibricks each year and increasing WA’s brick supply by an estimated 10–15%.

Western Australia Continues to Lead the Nation

The latest HIA New Home Sales Report highlights a mixed picture across Australia, but Western Australia continues to stand out as the strongest performing market.

WA recorded an 8.1% increase in new home sales during June, making it the strongest performing major state for the month. Detached house approvals also remain healthy, increasing 8.3% over the past 12 months, reinforcing confidence that the WA residential building market continues to outperform the rest of the country.

Across Australia, new home sales eased by 4.6%, while contract cancellations increased as higher interest rates and ongoing policy uncertainty affected buyer confidence. Despite this, the underlying demand for new housing remains strong, supported by population growth, low unemployment and an ongoing shortage of homes.

For anyone considering building in Western Australia, the market continues to present excellent opportunities. The key is making informed decisions, selecting the right builder and ensuring pricing, specifications and documentation are properly prepared before committing to a building contract.
