Yesterday, Simon Coad was appointed as Liquidator of LEGgroup Pty Ltd formerly trading as 'Australian School of Theatre' and 'Entertaind'.

The Australian School of Theatre was operating a music school at its Warwick premises, while Entertaind was the business behind the production Little Shop of Horrors at Regal Theatre.

The Liquidator is currently collecting the company's records and will be writing to all affected parties as soon as possible.

It is understood there were a number of employees who were not paid following the Little Shop of Horrors production, and all parties are encouraged to contact the Liquidator's office on (08) 6228 1700 or by email at [email protected].

More than a month after the company behind a Little Shop of Horrors production declared it was closing, liquidators have been appointed but creditors are unlikely to receive a cent.

The building industry in WA is reeling after the appointment of liquidators to New Sensation Homes and Home Innovation Builders late last week - and these companies may not be the last!

Customers with half-built homes and their contractors will be the ones who feel the most pain out of this unfortunate situation!

Later this year, the Western Australian Government will be implementing landmark reforms for the security of payment to protect subcontractors; often the 'little guy' who is crippled from the insolvency of these companies.

Unfortunately, the legislation won't be here in time to help out those affected by the latest liquidations, or the 'flow on effect' that the recent appointments will have over the coming months, but it will at least improve protections for the little guy in the future!

The Building and Construction Industry (Security of Payment) Act 2021 is due to take effect from August 1 2022.

PSA Reminder

If you are a director of a company, you have until 30 November 2022 to apply for a Director Identification Number (DIN) through the Australian Business Registry Services (ABRS) website!

Make sure to check the ABRS website as there are different requirements based on the date of your appointment as a director. Those that fail to apply for a DIN before 30 November 2022 will face civil penalties under the Corporations Act, so don't delay in getting yours sorted.
