The Reserve Bank of Australia (RBA) announced the cash rate will remain unchanged at 4.35% after its monetary policy meeting today.

This marks a year since the last change, which was an increase of 0.25 percentage points in November 2023.

The decision was in line with expectations, as it comes shortly after the Australian Bureau of Statistics released the latest inflation data, showing a 2.8% annual increase in the September 2024 quarter, down from a 3.8% increase in the June quarter.

With inflation moving in the right direction, market commentators are increasingly forecasting interest rate cuts in early 2025.

Having an accurate idea of your borrowing power will help ensure that you’re looking in the right price range from the very start.⁣
2️⃣ Research the criteria for your desired property: Make sure the property meets your requirements. ⁣
• What is your main purpose or reason for buying a property?⁣
• How long do you plan on staying in the property? ⁣
• Do you have a budget for ongoing repairs & maintenance?⁣
• Who would potentially rent your property or buy it when you decide to sell?⁣
3️⃣ Research the suburb & the surrounding area: purchase in a suburb with solid growth potential. Get to know the local transportation situation, as well as facilities within walking distance/ just a short drive away. ⁣
4️⃣ Research the property: When inspecting the property, check things such as: ceilings for water stains / sagging, check what is under the carpets, cracks in the brickwork or driveway, mould in the bathroom / kitchen⁣

We are excited to welcome Amanda Matthews to our team as Broker Support Manger!

Amanda brings 7 years of finance industry experience to our team. She began her career as an asset finance broker on the Gold Coast in 2017 before transitioning to a lender role, where she assessed personal and asset loans. In 2021, Amanda joined Westgate as a broker support officer, where she also completed her Cert IV and Diploma in Finance and Mortgage Broking Management.

Known for her hardworking, determined, and reliable nature, Amanda is also recognised for her kindness. She is passionate about finance, particularly in helping people achieve their property goals and finding creative solutions to complex problems.

Outside of work, Amanda enjoys spending time at the beach with her two children, Willow (6) and Bennett (10 months), and their staffy, Bear. She also has a keen interest in home renovations and improvements, constantly working on new projects to enhance her property.
