Many of you will no doubt have heard the news from both the State and Federal Governments.... up to $55,000 is up for grabs towards building your first home!

If you've been thinking about building, I would suggest that now is the time, not every day the Government hands out this much money. Unsurprisingly, land is running out across multiple developments as people seek to take advantage of all the grants.

Not all the information has been released, more to come on this. I've attached a link here with a little summary:

A $125 million stimulus package for the state's home building sector has been unveiled, with cash grants and stamp duty rebates for eligible buyers and another $319 million for social housing.

Recently spoke with someone who was paying 4% interest on their home loan when they were eligible for a 3.14% interest rate. This happens because generally the banks are more interested in new customers than existing ones and they rely on YOU to neglect your loan (which evidently works).
