Global Investment Case Competition - AUD 10.8k prize 🤩

In partnership with the Imperial College London Business School, the Climate Investment Challenge calls on students to develop and describe creative financial solutions and innovations addressing the defining challenge of our time – climate change. This could include identifying untapped climate finance opportunities or developing innovative financial structures or instruments that improve the bankability of climate investments.

There is no single right answer. In the battle against climate change and its impacts, ideas across all sectors, topics, and regions are important!

The Emerging Markets Prize is focused on financial tools that exist today (e.g., REITs, bonds) to address a specific Emerging Markets climate problem that is currently underserved. The winning team will be awarded £6,000 (AUD 10.8k)

Since the end of the 20th century, emerging countries like China, India and Russia have seen their influence increased on the global stage. The shifting global paradigm has been complicated by the 2008 financial crisis, the COVID-19 pandemic and now the Russian invasion of Ukraine. Against this background, the Emerging Markets Network, the Melbourne University Debating Society and Economics Student Society of Australia (ESSA) invites all University of Melbourne students, no matter discipline, to participate in or spectate our newest campus debate event on the topic of emerging markets.

Teams can register with 3-5 members, with 3 speakers presenting at each round of the event. The final topic will be given out 15 minutes before the second round. Each debator will receive invaluable and personalised feedback from a panel of experienced adjudicators.

After the debate event, we invite all students, speakers and adjudicators to grab a drink and meet some new faces. A bar tab will be provided.

It is not compulsory to attend both the debate event and the social event.
