Before you pack up and move lenders, it's worth asking a simpler question first: will your current one move?

Many lenders will review your rate if you ask, and sometimes the new rate lands close to what's advertised elsewhere, without a new application, a valuation or discharge fees.

Sometimes it won't be enough, and switching is the better call. But it's always worth checking first, so you can put both options side by side and compare real numbers, not advertised ones.

The RBA raised the cash rate to 4.60% on Tuesday, up from 4.35%.

A change in the cash rate doesn't change the reasons you set your loan up the way you did, or the plans it's there to support.
