π‘π©βπΌ As your trusted mortgage broker, it's important for me to ensure that you're equipped not just with knowledge about loans and interest rates, but also about safe financial transactions.
π‘οΈ Your strongest defense against scammers is being well-informed about their latest tricks. Stay alert and vigilant! Here are some tips to help you identify a business email compromise scam: π΅οΈββοΈ
π Verify payment details:
β’ Know who you're paying πΌ: Reach out to the payee directly using a trusted contact number π. Ask them to provide the invoice amount, their BSB and account numbers to verify the payment details, especially for first time payments.
β’ Inspect the email π§: Check if there's anything unusual, like the tone of the email, grammar, or spelling.
β’ Make sure the payment request makes sense π€: Email addresses can appear authentic, so it's crucial to check for anything unusual like extra characters or strange domain names.
β’ Be extra careful if there's any reference to urgency of payment in the email β³.
β’ Proceed with caution when opening any links π±οΈ. If you're uncertain, better not to click on it.
Remember:
βΈοΈ Pause: Take a minute to think, does this feel right?
π Process: Check the legitimacy of the email and verify payment details.
βοΈ Proceed: If in doubt, donβt act.
Stay safe! π‘οΈπ
