Winter in the Dandenong Ranges has its own kind of magic. ❄️❄️❄️
Misty mornings. Crisp air. Hot coffee from a favourite local café. A bowl of soup on a chilly afternoon. And the comforting glow of a fire at the end of a long day. 🔥🔥🔥
At SoEzy, winter means the fire is lit, the kettle is on, and Finn has secured the warmest spot in the office.

This black and white photograph from the 1950s shows one of the homes built by Mark’s parents, Bob and Joan O’Donnell.

While Bob physically built homes across Melbourne for decades, Joan was deeply involved in the design side of the business, preparing plans and working through ideas before they ever reached the architect.

Building was very much a family affair.

During his school years, Mark spent many holidays helping his father on building sites. Long before a career in banking and finance, he learned practical skills, respect for hard work and the importance of standing behind what you build.

Bob continued building homes well into his 80s.

Today, Mark’s role is different, but the underlying purpose remains remarkably similar: helping people secure homes, build stability and plan for the future with confidence.

Some lessons stay with you for life.

Whether you are purchasing your first home, restructuring finances or simply exploring your options, we are always happy to have a confidential conversation.

Written especially for children, the book shares calm, kind and practical puppy training advice drawn from Travis’ many years of experience working with dogs and their humans.
If you are welcoming a new puppy into the family, it is a beautiful little resource.
Copies are available for pickup from the SoEzy office during business hours.
$25 cash please, as we are simply helping facilitate local sales for Travis and are not selling the books ourselves.

This document dates back to 1922.
It is a mortgage disbursement prepared for Mark’s grandparents’ first home, detailing stamp duty and associated costs in pre-decimal currency… pounds, shillings and pence.
One detail that stands out is the stamp duty.
£1 and 10 shillings at the time.
Around $154 in today’s money.
To give that some perspective, a loaf of bread and a pint of milk together cost about 1 shilling in 1922.
The figures may seem small now, but the significance of the moment was anything but.
The anticipation of buying a first home.
The responsibility that comes with it.
The sense of stepping into something important.
More than a century later, the numbers have changed and the process has become more complex, but the fundamentals remain the same.
Careful guidance matters.

WHEN COMPLEXITY CALLS FOR EXPERIENCE:

A recent refinance we worked on involved:
• 12 properties across regional Victoria
• A $4.8M loan requirement
• Significant rates and land tax liabilities
• Plus $700,000 needed to complete a development
Not a straightforward scenario.
We structured a 12-month facility at 65% LVR that cleared existing obligations, provided the required cash out, and included a pre-funded interest period.
This gave the client something critical. Time.
Time to complete the development
Time to sell selected assets strategically
Time to position themselves back for bank finance
Not every deal is simple.

A little glimpse of today.

Our annual “all birthdays at once” celebration at SoEzy, thanks to everyone being born in the same part of the year.
French rosé.
Afternoon tea.
And a surprise bunch of flowers each from Mark.
(He was quite happy with just the rosé.)
The dogs joined in, of course.
We do not take it for granted how lucky we are to come to a workplace that feels like this, every day.
