Western Sydney Pumped Hydro represents a critical step in delivering firm, long-duration storage for NSW’s evolving energy system.

By utilising existing infrastructure and natural elevation between the former coal washery and Lake Burragorang, the project will store excess renewable generation and dispatch it when it’s needed most, supporting reliability as coal leaves the grid.

Recently declared Critical State Significant Infrastructure, the 12GWh capacity facility reflects the scale required to enable the next phase of the energy transition.

This is the type of infrastructure that underpins a secure, low-emissions future.

Congratulations to Drew Siow, who is now Head of Financial Control at ZEN Energy.

Since joining ZEN just 10 months ago, Drew has worked across some of the most complex and fast-moving areas of the renewables sector. Drew and the team’s work spans various technical accounting issues, including derivatives, physical and virtual tolling, BESS accounting, decommissioning provisions, and cash flow forecasting - a reflection of the evolving accounting practices landscape in a rapidly maturing renewables market.

He has been supporting the progression of our ZEBRE platform since its establishment and navigating its associated accounting implications, as well as leading key tax initiatives, including the ATO Top 5000 streamlined review, formation of a tax consolidated group, and ACA entry and exit calculations review. With a focus on strengthening reporting, tightening the month-end close, and enhancing monthly external reporting to stakeholders, Drew is bringing real uplift to some of our practices.

After many years of keeping Governance and Risk in perfect balance—managing risk with the precision of a metronome and the kindness of a true legend—the time has come for Glenn Garnaut to trade spreadsheets for sunsets.

As our Head of Governance and Risk, Glenn has been the calm in complexity. His career spans industries, countries, and roles that reflect both deep expertise and a genuine love of learning.

Across his journey, Glenn has:

- Worked as a hydrographer based in Karratha, covering much of the Pilbara region.

- In 1991 Completed a Bachelor of Business degree while welcoming his second son the day before his final exams (an achievement few can top).

He has fulfilled international roles, including working in China with Alcoa, and held senior leadership roles with Arconic, where his preferred office was often a New York balcony.

Now, our resident “Risk Man” is officially switching the suit, hitching the caravan, and heading for the horizon—where the only thing he’ll be calculating is the distance to the next waterhole.

Glenn, thank you for your leadership, integrity, and good humour. Wishing you a retirement full of open roads, meaningful moments, and adventures with zero governance frameworks attached.

Enjoy every kilometre—you’ve more than earned it.

Our team beyond the desk!

Bravo to Paul Cook — a man renowned for looking after our customers, and apparently just as good at convincing bream to bite.

Paul recently dominated the Bream Master South Australia Tournament, a kayak-based fishing competition where anglers target bream on lures and then weigh their three biggest fish (alive) at the end of the day. The heaviest three-fish “bag” takes the win.

And Paul didn’t just bream big — he claimed the Triple Crown, which includes:

- Angler of the Year (AOY) 2025 – The AFL Minor Premiership equivalent: finished first on the ladder after the season.

- Champion Angler 2025 – The AFL Premiership equivalent: won the Grand Final.

- Big Bream 2025 – Think Goal or Mark of the Year: the single heaviest bream weighed in across the entire season.

In short: season dominance, finals glory, and the biggest fish.

This stellar effort has also qualified Paul for the 2026 Hobie Fishing Australian Championships — his second year in a row. The event brings together the top 55 kayak bream anglers from across Australia for a three-day showdown, with the winner earning a golden ticket to the Hobie Fishing World Championships.

Paul says the water is his “happy place” and tournament fishing gives him a competitive outlet.

We wish Paul the best of luck in his future luring endeavours.
