As part of Allianz Road Safety Week, we were proud to see Shelagh Bock and Paul Navarrete represent GT Insurance in a virtual presentation focused on improving safety outcomes across the heavy transport industry.
Shelagh delivered an insightful session on Healthy Heads in Trucks & Sheds (HHTS), highlighting the importance of mental health and wellbeing across the transport and logistics sector. As a founding sponsor since 2019, GT Insurance has been committed to supporting HHTS through ongoing financial backing and industry expertise—helping to drive meaningful research, education programs, and national awareness initiatives. We continue to actively promote HHTS resources to our insured fleet operators and broker partners across Australia, reinforcing the importance of mental wellbeing in creating safer roads.
Paul complemented this with a practical and data-driven discussion on heavy vehicle road accidents, exploring key causes and, importantly, how they can be prevented. A key insight shared was that truck drivers are at fault in only 15% of crashes, with the majority of incidents involving other road users or broader systemic factors. This reinforces the need for stronger driver education across all road users, alongside improved systemic safety controls to better protect those operating within the heavy transport environment.
At GT Insurance, we believe that road safety extends beyond policies—it’s about empowering our partners with knowledge, resources, and support to make a real difference.
