What do you get when you put a funny one, a serious one and an Irishman on stage? The launch of Strata Community Insurance's roving Spring Forum events at W Sydney!

So grateful to our wonderful strata community who took time out of their busy schedules to join us on a rainy Spring day for an afternoon of education, collaboration, meaningful conversations and a few laughs along the way.

Our NSW/ACT State Manager, Greta Vargas, kicked things off before handing over to Managing Director, Paul Keating, who explored the true cost of insurance and the critical role maintenance plays in protecting strata assets. Greta then unpacked the differences in insurance cover and the importance of understanding what youโ€™re covered for before you need it, before National Manager, Claims Partnerships & Building Services, Martin Maguire, highlighted why acting within the first 24 hours of a claim can make all the difference.

But what truly made the afternoon special was the engagement from our audience. The questions, conversations and opportunity to address real-world scenarios in real time made for a genuinely interactive and valuable session.

Supporting communities impacted by the Alice Springs storms

Our thoughts are with the residents, businesses and communities across Alice Springs and surrounding regions following the severe thunderstorms that have caused significant property damage and widespread power outages. Reports indicate that approximately 9,000 properties lost power following the storm event.

With Strata Community Insurance, if two or more residential Lots become uninhabitable due to an insured event, Lot Owners and Tenants may access cover for emergency accommodation up to the limits specified in the policy. Lot owners may also access benefits for contributions and levies, as well as boarding costs for pets or security dogs. That's confidence a bare-bones policy may not provide.

๐Ÿ‘‰When a serious incident occurs in a strata community, the first few hours matter.

A major fire recently affected a Level 7 unit at one of our insured properties on the Gold Coast. Several residents, including elderly occupants, were evacuated as a precaution, and one resident received hospital treatment for smoke exposure. Our thoughts are with everyone affected by this unfortunate event. We also acknowledge the incredible work of the first responders who supported the community on the day.

Within three hours, the broker, strata manager, appointed loss adjuster, builder and hygienist were all on site, joined by team members from Strata Community Insurance, working together to check on resident wellbeing, assess the damage, make the property safe and agree the remediation actions needed to support recovery.

Events like this are a reminder of what matters most when a major loss occurs: preparation, clear collaboration and trusted relationships between everyone involved.
