End of the convention sessions at Steadfast Convention 2026 with the incredibly inspiring Sam Bloom.

Strength in every image—but behind it, a story of darkness, heartbreak and extraordinary resilience. After a life-changing fall in Thailand in front of her young family, she faced feeling completely broken—physically and mentally—yet found a way forward with gratitude… with a little help from a cheeky magpie called Penguin.

From that place to becoming a world champion para surfer, winning gold, authoring a best-selling book, and now competing in Byron this week—truly remarkable.

To appreciate where we’re going, we must first honour where we’ve come from.

Tonight we celebrate 70 years of Olympic legacy on the Sunshine Coast, recognising the athletes whose dedication and perseverance helped shape our region’s sporting pride.

While Dawn Fraser was unable to attend as she is in Adelaide, it was a privilege to hear from and acknowledge Olympians Bryan Harper, Warren Moore, Ted Pierce, Hayden Kenny, Graeme Sherman and Jim Achurch. We also pause to respectfully acknowledge the recent passing of Robyn Nock, whose Olympic legacy remains part of the history we honour.

Brilliantly guided by Ian Jobling, with Benny Pike’s entertaining interviewing skills bringing out some wonderful stories.

Huge credit to the Sunshine Coast Olympic Taskforce for bringing together 70 years of Sunshine Coast Olympic pride.

When we respect our origins, we strengthen the path for the generations to come.
