Zonta Club of Northern Beaches What we do

At the Zonta Club of Northern Beaches we work to empower women through a variety of service projects and through collaboration with other women’s organisations. Current activities of our club include:
• Giving financial help to women and girls in our local community to enable them to continue their education when they would otherwise be unable to do s

o.
• Assembling simple birthing kits to be used in developing countries. These kits (with an education program) promote hygiene in childbirth, and assist in the prevention of associated infections, particularly tetanus - in association with the Birthing Kit Foundation Australia (www.bkfa.org.au/).
• Supporting the Mackellar Girls Z Club. Z Clubs are established to help high school students develop leadership skills, promote career exploration and encourage members to participate in community, school and international service projects.
• Assisting with the organisation of, and taking part in, the Australia Day Breakfast at Newport Beach.
• Making free breast care cushions for women who have undergone surgery for breast cancer. The cushion aids recovery by allowing comfortable sleep and rest as well as preventing hurt from bumps and discomfort from wearing seatbelts.
• Providing material and financial assistance to the local Women’s Refuge, and Northern Beaches Women’s Shelter. A member of the Northern Beaches Domestic Violence Network.
• Holding fundraising and fellowship events, including the annual Pittwater International Women’s Day Breakfast. Professional women who want to help other women in the local community and overseas, and who want to share in friendship and are keen for the opportunity to share their skills. Club members meet for dinner and Zonta business on the fourth Monday of each month . We welcome anyone interested in our club to come to a meeting.

Somewhere right now, a girl is watching her first match. ⚽

She deserves a game that sees her back.

Six billion people will tune in to the most watched sporting event in the history of global media. That is the most powerful platform sport has ever had and a chance to show every woman and girl that she belongs.

On every field. Every court. Every pitch.

The beautiful game belongs to all of us.

A new Australian film is coming to Avalon, and we are proud to be part of it.
is a feature film about a woman named Sarah and her teenage son, making their way toward a life defined by choice rather than fear. It deals honestly with coercive control and financial abuse, the kind that hides inside ordinary arrangements, shared accounts, one person quietly removing another's access to money and agency.

Around 2.4 million Australians have experienced economic abuse by a partner. Many of the women we support at NBWS have lived exactly this.

Director made this film for the person who doesn't yet have the language for what they're experiencing.
We think that matters.

A VIP screening with Q&A is coming to United Cinemas Avalon on Wednesday 17th June, hosted by . A percentage of every ticket sold comes directly to the Shelter.

How does climate change disproportionately impact women and girls? How are women leading action, innovation and sustainable change?

Zonta International envisions a world in which women’s rights are recognized as human rights and every woman is able to achieve her full potential. Understanding climate change as a human rights issue is central to the fight against climate change, but also to creating a sustainable, gender-equal future.

I am so pleased to join Dr Lisa Selbie, sustainability and circular economy advocate; and Jill Green, conservationist and activist on Thursday June 18.
