Recently I travelled to Singapore, where I had the privilege of attending the McLarens Aviation insurance training seminar. A fantastic few days diving deep into the technical elements of aircraft claims, loss assessment methodology and the realities of aviation losses from the surveyors' perspective.
A highlight was getting out to visit a few MRO facilities including the overhaul workshops and test cell for the CFM56 and LEAP engines.
There's nothing quite like standing next to the powerplant to appreciate the complexity and the values involved.
This was an invaluable event for any broker and appreciating how a claim is assessed from the insurer and surveyor's perspective makes us better advocates for our clients when it matters most.
