ATO cracking down on employers not meeting their Superannuation obligations

For those of you that handle client payroll and superannuation, the ATO has just announced a large-scale surveillance project aimed at employers not paying Superannuation Guarantee in full, and on time.

As part of this, the ATO will be increasing its “proactive” Superannuation Guarantee casework by more than one-third in 2017/2018. This will involve reviews and audits. Employers who are found to have breached their obligations may be subject to penalties of up to 200% per employee, plus interest!

It’s therefore vital that employers meet their Superannuation Guarantee obligations on time, going forward
