Not all breeders operate the same way. There is a huge difference between ethical family breeders - and large scale commercial or backyard breeding operations who keep dogs and pups in small enclosures or locked in kennels.

Registered Lykos Wolfalike breeders prioritise health, breed development, temperament, welfare and lifelong responsibility for every puppy they bring into the world - not profit or demand.

🐺 Puppies are raised inside the family home with puppy culture protocols, socialised with children visitors, enrichment, training and daily handling.

🐺 Potential owners can visit, meet parents and see firsthand how the dogs are raised and cared for.

🐺 Verified pedigrees, DNA health testing and hip/elbow scoring provide transparency and peace of mind.

🐺 Every puppy comes with registration papers, breeder support and a genetic health guarantee.

🐺 Hormone & growth preserving sterilisation methods are available for pet puppies & included in the puppy prices.

🐺 Early socialisation, confidence building, crate training and toilet training foundations begin well before puppies leave.

🐺 Ethical breeders maintain only a small number of family dogs so every animal receives individual care, training and attention.

🐺 LWCA breeders also organise pack walks and meetups so owners can connect with other owners and see older dogs bred within the program.

Choosing a breeder should never be based only on convenience, price or who “has puppies available now”.

In the past, breeders have been removed for not adhering to these high standards, so it’s advisable to check whether the breeder you follow is registered on the LWCA website.

Always do your research and check whether a breeder is registered on the LWCA website. 🤍

‼️ Not all breeders are created equal. There is a world of difference between an ethical family breeder and one such as a commercial puppy farm.

An ethical family breeder raises dogs as part of the family, not as products. Puppies are raised inside the home with daily socialisation, handling, enrichment, training, and genuine emotional investment. Pups get to meet various people and children as they are growing.

A commercial puppy farm is focused on volume and 💰turnover and always have pups available. Puppies from a place like this often face serious physical and behavioral challenges that can affect them for life. 🙁

Many are raised in kennel-style, overcrowded or unsanitary conditions with little human interaction during critical stages of development. As a result, they can suffer from illness, poor social skills and behavioural problems that become difficult for owners to manage later on.

Although puppy farm puppies may appear cute and healthy on social media, the long-term consequences can be heartbreaking for both the dogs and the families who bring them home.

A good breeder does not constantly pump out puppies.

For potential puppy buyers: ALWAYS do your due diligence when choosing a breeder.

🚩Some of the most well known puppy farms have a viral social media following - this does not mean they are good breeders.

At the very least, visit dogs in person to see how they really live and how many they have. If you’re not allowed to see what really goes on, this is a huge red flag. 🚩

🛑 Please don’t continue the puppy farm cycle that harms the welfare of dogs. Dogs deserve better.

Did you know? There have been people who have deliberately broken Australian Law and secretly imported wolf content material into Australia - who are also carriers of serious genetic defects.

Our club is not associated with these kind of people.

Our club registered breeders do NOT contain any wolf content in their bloodlines whatsoever - our breeders always follow the relevant laws and do not take shortcuts or decieve the public.

Always ask for verified Embark DNA testing links to verify any suspected wolf content if considering any kind of Wolfalike outside of the Lykos Wolfalike breeding programs. There are copycat breeders who will deliberately hide this from the public.

The Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act, 1999 (EPBC Act) is the Australian Government’s environmental legislation. Since 2010, under the Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act, 1999, Australia has banned the importation of wolves/wolf hybrids and disallow breeds such as the Czechoslovakian Wolfdog (Czechoslovakian Vlcak), Saarloos (Saarloos Wolfhound), Lupo Italiano or Italian Wolfdog. This also includes any dog that has wolf or wolfdog content such as the Tamaskan and Northern Inuit and many other "wolfalike" type breeds, not officially recognised by the world kennel club (Fédération Cynologique Internationale - FCI).
