What if textile waste could become a material for the future?
At Textile Recyclers Australia's textile Recyclers Group (TRG), keeping clothing and textiles out of landfill is only part of the challenge.
The next step is creating practical, higher-value pathways for textiles that can no longer be reused.
One of the innovations we are developing is VestraForm™ — a composite material incorporating processed textile waste and designed to demonstrate how discarded textiles can be transformed into something new, functional and valuable.
Rather than seeing end-of-use textiles simply as waste, we see them as a raw material.
Through TRG and our technology division, Textile Recycling Technologies (TRT), we continue to explore and develop new pathways for difficult textile streams — combining real-world textile recovery experience with research, technology and Australian innovation.
VestraForm™ represents an important part of that journey: moving beyond diversion and looking at how textile waste can become an input into the next generation of materials and products.
We would also like to acknowledge and thank Thread Together a social impact champion for their ongoing support. Their long-term commitment and collaboration have been integral to helping TRG progress VestraForm™ from an idea into a tangible circular materials pathway.
The challenge is significant, but so is the opportunity.
Collect. Recover. Innovate. Create new value.
That’s the circular future we’re working towards.
