$25,000 HOMEBUILDER GRANT
$25,000 will be made available for Australians as a grant to build a new home or start a major renovation under near-$700 million federal government housing package.
Called 'HomeBuilder', the grant will complement existing State and Territory grants and schemes.
Here are some of the main details around the grant and its eligibility criteria:
- Restricted to people on middle incomes and to new homes and major renovations valued between $150,000 to $750,000.
- The pre-renovation value of the house must not exceed $1.5 million
- Excludes sheds, pools, granny flats and any other structures not attached to the property.
- It is a temporary scheme that will last until the end of the year, aiming to build 30,000 homes by Christmas.
- Construction of a new home or a substantial renovation must be contracted to begin within three months
- The grant(s) will be means tested, allowing singles who earned up to $125,000 the previous financial year and couples who earned up to $200,000 to access the scheme.
This is obviously a significant opportunity for anyone looking to build or renovate but you'll need to be prepared and have your finances in place.
Please don't hesitate to contact me anytime should you wish to discuss this offer further.

If the recommendations for mortgage brokers remuneration become law the big four banks will be rewarded for their wrongdoings and real competition in home lending will cease.
The industry will revert back to the 1990's when the major banks controlled the market with little competition and their margins were around 3% higher than they are today.
Any wonder all the major banks share price rose last week.
If the current mortgage broking remuneration system produced bad outcomes for consumers why has the amount of home lending written by mortgage brokers risen every year and now stands at nearly 60% of all mortgages.
What will happen to all the smaller lenders who rely on brokers to refer business to them because they have a small or no branch network.
If you want real competition in the housing market to remain and wish to support the mortgage broking industry please contact your local MP and tell your family, friends and work colleagues to do the same.
Please click on the button below to register your support.

Don't pay the price of less competition. Sign our petition.
