A number of my clients have contacted me and asked if their policies protect them if they contract coronavirus.

The answer is yes!
There are no exclusions for pandemics or coronavirus on retail policies.

So if you're unable to work for longer than your income protection waiting period because you've got coronavirus, then you should be eligible for an income protection claim.

If you are ventilated for 10 days in ICU, then you may be eligible for a trauma claim.

You can't claim on income protection if you are made redundant or need to self isolate because of coronavirus.

If you need more details, call your insurance adviser or your insurance company directly.

If any clients have suffered a loss due to bush fires, please contact me. We may be able to arrange a premium waiver with your insurer. Other assistance may be available if you’re part of the volunteer fire brigade or SES.

In addition, if you’ve been injured or are suffering anxiety or depression as a result of the fires, we may be able to lodge an insurance claim so please call me directly.

Most Aussies only have enough cash in the bank to get them through a month of living expenses without receiving any income. Some of these fire fighting volunteers have been off work and risking their lives for 6 weeks to protect their communities from fire, and there is no end in sight. The very least they deserve is a tax break!

Exhausted firefighters are pleading for tax adjustments to help them shoulder lost income and mounting bills.
