Australian Flying Corps Ace Edgar Garfield Finlay Distinguished Flying Cross ( First pattern ribbon)
Edgar Garfield Finlay, DFC (7 September 1893 – 18 April 1958) was an Australian flying ace of the First World War. He served with distinction in the Gallipoli Campaign as a noncommissioned officer in the Light Horse. After serving in the Camel Corps he transferred to the Australian Flying Corps. He was commissioned and served as an aerial observer. In this role he was credited with eight aerial victories before training as a pilot. Because a pal of his in the Flying Corps enjoyed the daily morning luxury of a shower bath from an inverted kerosene tin and because he had a tent, a table, a lamp, and a field cot. Garfield Finlay transferred his allegiance from camel corps to aeroplanes.
