ARE HYBRID UTES BECOMING THE NEW NORMAL?

Not long ago, the Australian dual-cab formula was simple: diesel engine, big tow rating and a tray full of gear.

Now the Ford Ranger PHEV, BYD Shark 6 and GWM Cannon Alpha PHEV are showing three different versions of what an electrified ute can be.

Quiet running around town, serious power when you need it and the ability to run camping gear from the vehicle sound useful. But plenty of Australians will still take convincing before they move away from a familiar diesel.
