Are your investment goals and returns keeping up with the pace of inflation and rising interest rates?

Many investors are still feeling the pinch with inflation soaring, but with the interest rates available on traditional interest rate products like term deposits not keeping pace, it can feel like you’re going backwards.

While there has been a shift to investments carrying a higher level of risk to supplement their income, some are concerned this may lead to problems down the road.

So how do you find solid returns to outpace inflation without increasing your risk?

Andrew Russell, Director, Investor Relations will host Portfolio Manager Matthew Lemke and Prime Value CEO Yak Yong Quek to discuss this investment conundrum, covering;
- The current market conditions,
- The key attributes of the Prime Value Diversified High Income Fund and,
- How the Prime Value Diversified High Income Fund can address investor concerns, as it moves to paying a monthly distribution equivalent to an annual rate of 6.55% after-fees.

Following being recognised by Zenith as Australian Equities – Small Cap Fund Manager of 2022, Mike Younger, Portfolio Manager, shares insights into the importance of stock selection to deliver long term results.

“Protecting capital comes back to stock selection. Picking resilient companies with strong cash flow, recurring revenues and low debt levels drives performance in good times but also insulates somewhat during bad times.”

“To understand how powerful this can be, investors need to ponder the mathematics around market falls. If a stock loses 50% it then needs to gain 100% in performance just to get back to where it was. By contrast, if a stock loses 25%, it needs 33% in performance to get back to square one.”

“These fundamentals in stock selection not only minimise the damage done from falling markets, they result in a higher base from which to enjoy the next upswing.”
