It was a fantastic day visiting John Paul College Frankston for Beyond School, Link Wealth Advice's financial literacy program designed to help students build confidence with money before they leave school.

We spoke with Year 10 to 12 students about investing, student debt, cashflow, super and the money decisions that start showing up sooner than most people expect.

The biggest takeaway from the day was how ready students are to learn about money when itโ€™s explained in a way that feels real and relevant.

P.S. A few spots are still available for schools wanting to book a Beyond School session.

A work experience student recently asked me for the most impactful book Iโ€™ve ever read.

For me, it was Think and Grow Rich by Napoleon Hill. Not because it was about money, but because it reinforced the power of desire, belief, discipline and actually backing your goals with action.

Thinking big means nothing if you are not willing to do the work.

P.S. What is one book that genuinely changed the way you think? Send me a DM or drop it in the comments.

3 investment strategies not impacted by negative gearing changes

The government needs to be very careful about how hard it pushes business owners and entrepreneurs.

If Australia keeps increasing taxes on investment growth and business owners, there is a real risk more founders start looking offshore. Countries like Singapore are incredibly business-friendly, and when entrepreneurs compare that environment against higher taxes and tighter regulation here, it changes how people think about where they grow their businesses long term.

The bigger question is whether these changes actually strengthen Australiaโ€™s economyโ€ฆ or slowly push innovation elsewhere.

P.S. If you want to understand how these proposed changes could affect your business or investments, send me a DM.

Property investing is not always as simple as โ€œsafe as housesโ€.

A $15,000 repair bill is a good reminder that investment properties come with real costs. Tenants, maintenance, insurance claims, rates, body corporate and unexpected damage can all eat into your actual return.

Property can be a great investment, but you need to understand the true net return, not just the headline growth.

P.S. If you are thinking about buying an investment property and want to understand the real numbers first, send me a DM and letโ€™s chat.

Opening a savings account in your childโ€™s name can create a nasty tax surprise.

If they are under 18, interest earned above certain limits can be taxed heavily, which means a lot of the return could disappear before it ever has a chance to compound. That is why some families look at other structures, like investment bonds, when investing for kids over the long term.

The goal is not just saving money for your child. It is setting it up in a way that actually works.

P.S. If you want to understand the best way to invest for your kids, send me a DM.

Higher interest rates create winners and losers.

If youโ€™re sitting on cash or term deposits, rising rates can actually work in your favour. But if youโ€™ve got a mortgage, higher repayments can put serious pressure on cash flow, which is why reviewing your budget, loan structure and interest rate matters more than ever right now.

Sometimes the fastest way to improve your finances is not earning more. Itโ€™s stopping money from leaking out unnecessarily.

P.S. If youโ€™re feeling pressure from rising interest rates and want to review your options, send me a DM and letโ€™s chat.
