💥Omni was recently tasked to seek cover for a significant contract tendered by City of Melbourne. The principal contractor who won the tender will be restoring one of the city’s most iconic bridges. The heritage listed beauty will undergo a massive facelift over 2.5 years with a contract value well into the double-digit millions.

⌛️ For 2 months and over the Christmas and New Year holiday, Omni worked with multiple construction insurers locally and abroad in order to find the right cover.

😰 The challenges from a risk perspective boiled down to work over water and bridge specific scaffolding exposures. Flooding was carefully considered regarding Material Damage and the high traffic conditions posed a Liability challenge too.

📝 No less than 14 separate insurers were approached and presented with our proposal. Given the high risk nature of the works, many insurers were uncomfortable with the risk profile but we did finally receive a few options over the holiday break.

✅ We were able to find a competitive solution for both the Contract Works and Public Liability exposures utilising local insurers for the Material Damage and a Lloyds syndicate out of London for Liability.

✍️ With our quote offer terms prepared and ready for the client by the time they came back from their break, they were presented, considered and Omni Risk Solutions was formally appointed and instructed to bind cover overnight.

This establishes 2024 with a strong start to the year as we gear up for a big one. 💪🏽 🏗️ 🔨

Virtually every business requires Public & Products Liability Insurance (aka General Liability, Casualty or Broadform Liability). It is the backbone of most business, enabling you to trade with the confidence that if and when something goes wrong, or you receive a letter of legal demand by a 3rd party you wish to dispute, your Insurer will have your back, paying damages (where covered) or defending you if you’re not at fault.

Suffice to say, this is not legal advice. Cover basis is written in black and white within your policy wording. A good broker will be able to advise you on your requirements and the type of policy, conditions and exclusions.

The most common positive feedback I receive from my Commercial Motor Fleet clients doesn’t circle around price. Nor does it concern claims handling (although I pride myself on both points)… It’s when I pick up the phone at 4:55pm on a Friday afternoon while they’re at the dealership, realising they forgot to organise insurance on their new vehicle. They begin to ask me to place cover in an apologetic panic and I tell them it’s already done:
“Really???”
“Yes!” This is why I recommended anyone with 10+ vehicles on the road take out a Motor Fleet policy. Automatic additions being a key benefit amongst many others. Especially if they turnover units frequently. Having to cancel and add and wait for refunds and pay pro rata premiums all the time is so time consuming and frustrating. Fleet insurance makes it so that you pay a per unit rate against X number of units at the start of the year, and at renewal, you pay an adjustment for any added vehicles at 50% of the base unit rate.
That’s it. It’s that simple.

I’m up, running and ready for you. Your business insurance should not be a chore you roll your eyes at once a year. It should be a conversation and an analysis of the risks your business is exposed to, followed by a discussion with your broker as to how to best protect your livelihood and those you employ… or, maybe it is a chore; in which case, get yourself a broker who lives, breaths and chomps at the bit to do it all for you. 👌🏽
