Alfred Ernest Haigh opened the first Haigh's Chocolates store in 1915 at the Beehive Corner Building, 34 King William Street, making and selling chocolate and confectionery at the premises. The store moved to the corner site of the building in 1923 (pictured 1928), and soon becomes a iconic meeting spot in the CBD, hence the often heard "meet me at the Beehive Corner!".

So much fun back in the day

Ann Cavanagh sent a photo; "I have this photo with my Mum who took my friend and I on the Ferris wheel at Cox Foys in the early 70s." Thanks Ann.
As I have mentioned before, not a lot of photos of the funfair that was on the roof at Cox Foys in Rundle Street (later Rundle Mall). Foys also had a funfair with a Ferris wheel in Bourke Street in Melbourne and I believe also in Sydney. In Adelaide Harris Scarfe bought out Cox Foys in the late 60s but continued to trade under the Cox Foys name until it closed in 1977. I'm not sure exactly when the funfair was closed and what happened to the Ferris wheel.
