Is now the worst time to buying? Should you wait it out or is it the best time to be buying?
You have to read this:
I remember when I first started thinking about buying my first property. Everyone had an opinion. My parents worried about interest rates â they had lived through paying their mortgage with 17% rates! Friends who didnât own property themselves told me the market was âtoo expensiveâ and Iâd be better off waiting for prices to fall. The media headlines were full of policy uncertainty and predictions of economic doom.
It felt like there was never a perfect time to take the leap. My first home always felt âjust out of reachâ. Iâd look at what some of my friends had bought a few years ago with pang of envy, convinced I was so behind. Perhaps I just needed to wait for the âright momentâ.
But the truth is, there is no perfect time. We are always living in uncertain times. There will always be government policy changes, economic ups and downs, or reasons to put it off until tomorrow.
What shifted things for me was realising I needed to focus. Focus on my own goals, not the noise around me. I stopped asking advice from people who werenât property owners and started speaking to those who had actually done it. I stopped comparing my situation to friends who seemed to be âfurther aheadâ and instead looked at what I could do right now.
I made sacrifices, I kept my eyes on the long game and ignored the short-term distractions. And it worked â buying that first property became the foundation for everything that came after.
If youâre waiting for the perfect moment, youâll be waiting forever.
The greatest leverage you have is your ability to focus on your own path. Start where you are, with what you have. The sooner you begin, the sooner the market starts working for you instead of against you.
