The Carbon Farming Foundation

The Carbon Farming Foundation CFF make it simpler and cheaper for farmers to integrate profitable carbon crops into their farming business.

The CFF was founded to make it simpler and cheaper for farmers to integrate profitable carbon crops into their farming business. We think landowners should come away with 95-100% of the carbon credits from their carbon crops. And as a registered not-for-profit, all profits that come into the organisation go back to helping Aussie farmers. The Carbon Farming Foundation (ABN 67 645 498 004) is a Cor

porate Authorised Representative (AFS Representative No.001298535) of True Oak Investments Ltd (ABN 81 002 558 956, AFSL 238184). The information on this website is general financial product advice only. It does not take your personal financial objectives, situation or needs into consideration. We recommend that you read our Financial Services Guide (https://carbonfarming.org.au/financial-services-guide/) and consider seeking independent advice before making a financial decision.

“Having CFF help us along the journey has been fundamental.”

That’s how Warren Pensini describes his experience starting an Environmental Plantings project on his property in Boyup Brook, WA.

Together with his partner Lori, Warren has established a 40-hectare planting at Blackwood Valley Beef, consisting of mixed biodiverse native tree and shrub species.

This project isn’t just about earning Australian Carbon Credit Units (ACCUs), it’s about creating co-benefits such as biodiversity, restoration of hydrological function and address key management issues on the farm.

“CFF were instrumental in ticking all those boxes that you’ve got to tick.”

With the wider project design being led by the Mulloon Institute and Commonland, we helped navigate the ACCU Scheme’s administrative requirements, and ensured Warren and Lori could focus on what they do best: working with the land to create lasting impact.

Interested in starting your own Environmental Planting project? Rabobank is offering discounted loans for eligible Environmental Plantings projects, with up to 1.15% off their Environmental Plantings Carbon Farming Loans. These loans can cover:

🌱 Feasibility studies
🌱 Site preparation and planting
🌱 Seedlings, maintenance, reporting and audits
🌱 Even land acquisition for new projects

At the Carbon Farming Foundation, we’ll support you from planning to planting to reporting, and unlike other providers, you keep 100% of the carbon credits you generate. Australia is filled with vast areas of unutilised marginal land 🌳

This land is seen as too dry, degraded, or difficult for traditional farming methods.

Even though this land is deemed as unsuitable for standard farming practices, it could offer another income stream. Not only that, but it could also boost biodiversity, stabilise soil and sequester carbon. Australian Carbon Credit Units (ACCUs), offers a golden ticket to unlocking these.

Now is the best time to start an environmental planting project 🌱

Australian carbon credit demand is on the rise, and experts predict a shortage within five years.

🌳 S&P Global analysts forecast a significant shortage within 5 years.
🌳 The Climate Change Authority warns that ACCUs will be in higher demand than supply by 2027, driven by stricter compliance rules.

For landholders, this is a golden opportunity.

With human-induced regeneration credits in short supply and stricter emission regulations coming, now’s the time to act. Early action will not only help you meet compliance but could also offer higher return potential.

What is the ACCU Scheme? And is it high integrity? 🌱🤔

The ACCU Scheme, managed by the Australian Government, allows landholders to earn carbon credits through carbon projects.

These credits, called ACCUs, represent one tonne of CO2-e removed from the atmosphere or avoided through approved methods.

Landholders often ask if the ACCU Scheme is trustworthy and maintains high integrity.

It’s a good question to ask, and it’s one we should continue to ask to keep carbon regulators accountable and projects at a high standard.

In short, the answer is yes. The Australian Government has put a significant amount of effort into ensuring that the ACCU Scheme operates with high integrity. Here’s how:

📋 Rigorous verification process
🌳 Clear guidelines and standards
✅ Ongoing monitoring and reporting
🔎 Regulatory oversight
🔬 Scientific backing

Our latest article goes into more depth on why high-integrity methods matter: https://carbonfarming.org.au/what-is-the-accu-scheme/

The Clean Energy Regulator has recently launched new ‘Alternative Assurance’ arrangements, removing barriers to carbon farming 🌱

Previously referred to as the ‘Environmental Plantings Pilot’, the Alternative Assurance arrangements allow low-risk environmental plantings projects to participate in the Australian Carbon Credit Unit (ACCU) Scheme’s Reforestation method with simplified reporting requirements and zero audits, reducing participation costs 🎉

The low-risk criteria includes:

🍃Projects must not be larger than 200Ha
🍃Project proponents must be the owner, leaseholder or native title holder of the project area
🍃Project must be modelled as a mixed species block planting in FullCAM

These benefits were available to users of the 2014 method but are now available to those using (or seeking to use) the new 2024 method.

We’re thrilled to see the reintroduction of this simplified pathway to starting a carbon farming project. If you think you may be eligible to participate, reach out to our friendly team to learn more: https://carbonfarming.org.au/contact/

Are wildlife corridors the key to a sustainable future? 🌳🐸

Wildlife corridors are green pathways that connect fragmented habitats, allowing animals to roam freely, adapt to climate change, and thrive.

But how does carbon farming play a part?

🌱 Revegetation to reconnect habitats
🪱 Improving soil health to support biodiversity
🦅Reintroducing native trees to establish new habitats
