Maida Vale is a peaceful community located in bushland about 16 kilometres from the Perth CBD and is home to Westminster Presbyterian Church (WPC) Maida Vale. With a history dating back to 1970, WPC Maida Vale first made contact with Baptist Financial Services (BFS) in 2019 when they were looking to build a new church building. What started in a garage with four families and 18 members in 2011 has led to the Burmese Chin Community of the Australia Zophei Church opening a brand new, state of the art building, in the western suburb of Melbourne, Ravenhall.

On Friday 22 March 2024, we gathered together at Sydney Opera House to celebrate the 40th Anniversary of Baptist Financial Services (BFS).

Over the past 40 years, BFS has loaned over $750 million to fund ministries, schools, and churches right across Australia and has supported and worked with over 1500 churches and ministries during that time.

BFS CEO David Slinn said that the evening was a wonderful celebration of the goodness and faithfulness of God.

“It’s amazing to look back over the achievements of four decades of our ministry and see the impact through God’s grace and provision we have made in the world.”

“What’s most exciting has been BFS’s capacity to sow back into kingdom work, with BFS distributing over $30 million to Christian organisations and ministries in grants and sponsorships since inception.”

Congratulations to the team at Ebenezer Pentecostal Assembly, Adelaide, who late last year realised a 14-year-old dream of owning their own church building.

The Malayalam Pentecostal community originally from Kerala, India, utilised their skills and talents over 48 days of renovation to see the project complete.

Isn’t it great to see God’s people working together and the local church and its ministry flourishing.
